Topic: Crowd in London Ontario Canada May4-2013 may Joe go Shhhh

An amazing time at the concert last night in London Ontario; were he played half a hockey arena.
I don’t know what the rest of the arena sounded like but from second row centre it was amazing.
I know Joe spends a lot of time downstage right and my seats where spot on.

Best sound I’ve heard at a Joe concert to date.
I must have been getting the vocals from the small stage monitors and getting most of the guitar from the stacks.

I think he should move the theremin back downstage right where he used to have it though. Upstage right didn’t work for me at all.

The crowd was pretty rowdy (beer??)
The guy in the front row in front of me had to have gone for beers 4+ times during the show. Kept air-drumming and standing with his fist in the air from time to time. Fortunately I could see around him fine

Even Joe when he tried to do his singing note that starts off quite and slowly gets loud couldn’t do it.
He even gave them the Shhh sign to all that were yelling, with many yells from farther back.

He got part way in and the yelling was drowning out the note so he just gave up.
Too bad I would have loved to hear that note rise.

Joe had me laughing when he was doing a dual with Arlan.
Joe missed his run way up past the 21st fret from what I could see, put his head down and said something like “fire-truck”, then looked over his shoulder to Carmine and Tal.
Tried again and a couple more fire-truck’s where mouthed.
They continued the dual.

In all I had a great time.
Hope Joe likes the red wine I bottled last fall I gave him for his 36th birthday, and how could you have red wine with out cheese so the Gold Fish cheese snack crackers filled the spot.

He’s off to Rama Ontario then Montreal PQ for the last of two shows in Canada for 2013.
Rama is 2 hours north and I’m on night shift (I can't go), so good luck to all the fans in Rama and Montreal this week.

I just don't know why J&R are not allowed to have a merchandise table in Canada.
Ridiculous

Re: Crowd in London Ontario Canada May4-2013 may Joe go Shhhh

I absolutely agree Doug. I too was looking forward to hearing that note rise to the rafters. Too bad some people just can't appreciate what it was all about.

This was my 3rd time seeing him as I saw him in Ottawa 3 yrs ago and then again at RTH in Toronto last November.
I'm off to Rama tonight to see him, yet once again on Monday.

I just can't get enough of his music and have never been captivated by a guitar player since SRV came on scene.

Thanks for a great evening Joe, and I do hope you come back real soon!

Well at least nobody jumped on stage and knocked him down like a crazed fan in Saskatchewan did to Mick Mars of Motley Crue recently!!! Take off eh!!!

Sounds like those crazed canook fans thought it was going to be an ice hockey match. Time to ban all drunks and close the bar at showtime.

That would be Canucks! And we don't say ice in conjunction with hockey. Ice is a given.

Crowd behavior is getting crappy as popularity grows.  I know Chicago, Detroit, and now London all had the same themes: way too many people arriving late (and more annoyingly they have great up front seats), then up and down all show so they can get drunk, then act obnoxious when they are actually in their seats.

Ugh.

Great review of the show.
funny how they always seem to write the same thing; always quoting the same life history lesson.

an yes it did seem a bit 'seedy' once off the beaten path downtown; but since he just played Detroit wink

The 2.5hr drive home was a killer after the show but I wish I could have taken Monday off to go see him at Rama.

I like the part about the selling souls of puppies??? where did that come from?

And the part about he's already living in hell smile

exchange for his guitar prowess.

If that’s true, then Joe Bonamassa must have sacrificed the souls of 1,000 or so — plus at least one big basket of puppies — for his six-string artistry.
Or maybe he’s already in hell, and Satan just lets him out once in a while for another scorching concert

Seriously though have you ever seen field hockey. It looks brutal. Nasty sticks and very little protective equipment.

Re: Crowd in London Ontario Canada May4-2013 may Joe go Shhhh

This was my first time seeing Joe live. I've got to tell you that I was completely blown away. Can't wait to see him again. I should have known I would love the show when they were playing Gov't Mule before he came on.
That arena has always sounded amazing. It really has one of the best sounds for concerts I've heard. And when they have the theater set up (half arena) it really has an intimate feel. Hopefully somebody recorded this.

I was using my daughters new camera. I had it set to low light for the stills so the flash wouldn't go off.

when I clicked Video record the battery low warning light was coming on for some insane reason (brand new too) and when I went back to stills it said 2/3 power.

I did 4 recordings, for some reason my PC is having issues of dropped frames and slow play in MOV format, I had to convert them to MP4 and burn on DVD to view them this morning
Plus the drunk guy in front of me kept waving his air drumming arm and standing from time to time, so it was a hard shoot.

I was getting a really good video of Midnight Blues but I guess I either touched the touch screen and cut off the video just as he was getting into the solo or the camera turned itself off.
Not sure which.
Disappointed that the videos cut out.

I have the full 2mins +/- that he did Django, very pretty very nice.

We don't put "ice" in front of hockey in the states either....Rick is from California, so you have to excuse him. I think the only time he ever saw ice was in London (England) a month ago, or in the bottom of his drink, lol.

In this last video, you tried and tried to do his soaring note but the crowd just wouldn't be quiet, so he gave up on it.

Here is a quick slide show of some of the pictures I took
