Topic: Spring is finally here!

After what has felt like a long winter, spring has finally come. And in my opinion there are few things more beautiful and uplifting than a spring day in Maryland

Gorgeous.  The little garden in front of our condo has begun to bloom as well; most of the plants made it through Sandy!

heck i thought for a minute i bet with a dog like that they have plenty of hair on the sofa but i wouldn;t be suprised if it were spotless.
just messing with you...that is some beautiful scenery. maybe one day i will actually be able to do a garden right but it sure feels good having given up the futile attemptsd for a while cause it was draggin me down for failing at it.

but yeah Spring has arrived. now that my allaergies are so sensitive its not alwasy as completely welcoming as in years past but i do really enjoy watching things green up.

when i was younger, my parents never gardened or anything and i just did not notice as many things. when i moved to where i live now 20 years ago, i was introduced to vegetable and flower gardening and farm living too. since then i notice and enjoy every little different shade of green i see and watching the fields and woods come into their summer colors. i find it hard to believe i never took such detailed notice of these things before.

thanks for the post and the pictures. i used to have an incredible flower garden with dozens of tulip varities i inheritded from my husband's Grandmother  but i simply could not keep it up even with spending extreme amounts of hours trying to do so. fortunately we did share many of the bulbs over the years so her legacy lives on. we have since moved so also its not a daily reminder of what i could not accomplish (fret not i do pat myself on the back for what i do accomplish). i want to do one again one day but i did learn that not much point until i can do it right and that gives me a little good feeling. anyway great to see those pics

Jane, you crack me up! The dog actually can be quite a pain in the butt because she barks at every little movement she sees beyond our yard which can make you somewhat crazy and you would not believe the amount of dog hair we have in the house! And of course with all that fur, everything sticks to her and she drags it all in the house. My floors are a mess all the time! As far as the gardens go, though, at this point they pretty much take care of themselves. I have to rake the leaves off them and remove all the dead in the spring, and plant seeds in the veg garden, but once that's done I pretty much let them go. From now until June is the best time for all of it. By August it looks like a tropical rainforest and is totally out of control. Thankfully it all dies back in the winter to start over again the next spring.

I have to laugh at the dog hair. We have two (a Sharpei mix and a French Bulldog). Yesterday I was getting a "wound vac" installed on my foot and the nurse was trying to keep all the hairs (2 cats also) out of the "sterile" stuff she was trying to attach to my foot and leg!

Yes, and Denver sure isn't celebrating yet!

Oh jeez. The Mets played near there recently and they had to clear the snow off the field. One game began with the temps in the 20's

So am I, it was close to 80 degrees yesterday, it is snowing now and we are under a winter weather advisory expecting 6 to 12 inches. Life in Northern Wisconsin.

Re: Spring is finally here!

Short lived spring here in NorCal, no it's not cold out, but advanced right into summer weather with temps hitting the '90's inland lately. Unfortunately fire season is here already as well. 4 seperate fires in Napa and Sonoma counties last night.

Sunny today but had to scrape the windows of the MX before dropping the top. RAH all the way to work at 44 on the Bose did the trick though. If nothing else it makes everyone think you have fallen off the trolley. (heaters are good though).

Beautiful garden, Natasha!
Love the chickens.

Unfortunately here in "Big D", we don't know if it's Spring, Summer, or Winter.
It was in the 80's yesterday & today it is 45!!!!
I was going to plant my herb garden & thought better of it.

The vintners are sweating it out because a lot have already lost grapes that had bud burst early then froze.
As they say in Texas..."If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute" LOL!

They say something similar in Washington! I was doing yardwork a couple weeks ago, planting things, and then it hailed for a few minutes. Supposed to be in the 80s this weekend. Seattleites will be freaking out.

Re: Spring is finally here!

...i saw my first male Blue Tit chasing a female Blue Tit today,so maybe spring is here!?... hope he caught her in the end,... i can't seem to catch one for love nor money these days! hmm

Re: Spring is finally here!

Spring is one of those seasons here in SoCal that just seems to fade in since we never really have a Winter. Now we are in the late Spring santa ana period with the associated wildfire season as ultra low humidity, high winds and dry brush combine to make our back country a tinderbox. Already fires are raging up north. More will surely follow.

Re: Spring is finally here!

not exactly the spring you were looking for in SoCal, this is now the Springs wildfire (everything gets a name now?) and is raging out of control all the way to the ocean. I hate it because the beautiful city (and beautiful people) of Malibu are next up on the firing line, excuse the pun. At 2 AM this morning it was 7 to 8 miles from Malibu, and the westerly winds are expected to be worse today. Ya'll stay safe and evacuate if needed, prayers go out to you.

Re: Spring is finally here!

You know, I think there are many areas of this country that have extreme weather changes from one day to the next. A couple of weeks ago we had a string of days that got up into the 90's which was really weird when there are no leaves on the trees yet, and then a few days later it was in the 30's to 40's and stayed that way until just recently. So when a beautful day comes along in the 60's -70's you really need to get out there and enjoy it if you can.

Re: Spring is finally here!

Another beautiful January day here near the Twin Cities. 24º and light snow falling as I type this. On our way home from Chicago yesterday - where it was 84º and sunny on Wednesday for Joe's show - we drove through an area in southern MN that got about 16 in. of snow in the last couple days. Spring is a long ways away.
