Topic: State Theatre Minneapolis

Good morning , after my coffee and shower I will be driving to Minneapolis for the show on Friday . Then on Sunday it will be Rockford Illinois. I hope my Joe fix will be satisfied. The best live show on the planet. Lord Have Mercy. Sold Out show in Minneapolis and maybe 90 seats in the upper balcony for Rockford are left. My guess is Rockford will sell out by Sunday. I love when the shows sell out . It just adds to all the excitement for me and its a wonderful compliment to Joe , Carmine , Tal and Arlan. Safe travels to everyone and especially the band that is on the road a lot.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

First JB show where I knew the set list before the show (came with the photo pass).

Acoustic set:
Seagull
Jelly Roll
Jockey Full Of Bourbon
Athens To Athens
Woke Up Dreaming

Electric set:
Slow Train
Dust Bowl
Dislocated Boy
Driving Towards The Daylight
Who's Been Talking
Django
Mountain Time
Young Man Blues
Yonders Wall
Ballad Of John Henry

Encore:
Sloe Gin
Just Got Paid

Another fabulous show, especially the last half. Joe cut a finger on his right hand early in the electric set, but it didn't slow him down. Definitely heard some licks from Joe that I never heard before. Django and Mountain Time were as brilliant as ever. Ballad Of John Henry was almost worth the price of admission on it's own - I don't think I've ever seen Joe that intense! I really like what Arlan brings to the band, too. Loads of creative keyboard work and some great interplay between him and Joe.

Milwaukee tomorrow...

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Thanks for burning the midnight oil Lee. Very similar list to Las Vegas with just a couple of changes. Most shows are sellouts now everywhere (I overheard a scalper on cell outside the Pearl before the show telling a customer that tickets were impossible to get! smile ). I hope that cut finger doesn't crimp his style for the upcoming shows. Have a blast following that train.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

I loved the show in Minneapolis last night . The best show yet for me. I will be in Rockford April 30 first row .  Joe was in a great mood played his heart out . Cut his finger , no problem , duct tape and back to work. He told a little story of how he played a small venue in Minneapolis almost 20 years ago and no one came . I yelled back  " I was there " and Joe as quick with a reply as he is with a guitar riff yelled back " no you were not " . He has a sense of humor as well as a sense of music. The whole band was off the hook and the sound and lights , spot on. Our seats wer spectacular and the State theatre is custom made for Joe and the band. The Coranado in Rockford is an old historic theatre too. I perfer the smaller vintage theatres to the larger venues. It just adds to the whole experience. I took my daughter and son in law and it was their first show. They are more into the new wave electronica genre of music and still managed to come away saying " that was the best live band I have ever seen and heard."  So yes this band reaches out and gets all fans of all music genres. Its a spectacle and I love the whole it. Make it even more flamboyant and I will be even happier. Thanks again for an evening of spectacular music.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

The place Joe was referring to is the Cabooze. Unless he played there pre-Bloodline (which I don't know if he could have) it wasn't 20 years ago, but he did play there going back to the year 2000 as well as a smaller place in St. Paul called O'Gara's Garage. I think he was the support act for other bands in some of his earlier Cabooze gigs. The last time Joe played the Cabooze was in December 2006 and there was about 650-700 people in there. I think it was one of the bigger club gigs Joe had up to that point.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Sounds like you all had a really great show. I'm surprised he doesn't cut his fingers more often the way he shreds on those guitars smile

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Thanks for pointing out the name of the club Joe talked about.  Im pretty sure he said 20 years ago , but I get pretty stoked at the shows and might have mis quoted.  but I was only kidding about being there when I yealled it out. It was a great comeback. Im sure he was just kidding as he told the story too.  The show was a whopper man. Im still vibrateing . Heading to Rockford on Tuesday , 1st  row.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

It was funny to see him with black duct tape on his finger . But it didnt stay on long and he pulled it off and finished the show without a glitch.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Talk about your battle conditions! Is he using Ginsu picks now, or what?  smile

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Saw Joe in Minneapolis too Wife & I loved it and his stories were funny. Got a pic of his cut finger and he still played the rest of the show hard. The duct tape was funny and it didn't stay on long you could see it bugged him. I hope it wasn't too serious and he didn't need a penicillian shot up his ****  hahahah he was funny. As always great show 2 1/2 hours of heaven

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Great show, love the interplay with all the band members. Arlan really brought a different sound to the whole show, loved it. It was nice to see Lee and Renee again and have a drink with them.I think this was the best show I have seen.

Re: State Theatre Minneapolis

Does anyone know of any videos from the Minneapolis show?

Does anyone know of any videos from the Minneapolis show?

Or, perhaps even better, whether anyone taped and upped it somewhere (etree; dimeadozen, TD, etc.)?
