Re: NY Guitar Show April 27 & 28

Guitar Show Advertising for 2013!
We increased our advertising budget this year to over $12k!! We have a nice mix of regional television, radio and print along with interviews in Newsday and other local papers. You'll see our TV ads on all seven (7) of Cablevision's News 12 channels which are Long Island, Westchester, CT, NJ, Bronx, Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley. Also spots on Verizon FiOS and their properties of CMT and Adult Swim on the Cartoon Channel on Long Island and a HUGE chunk of NJ from the Rockland County, NY border south through northern, NJ and down the shore.

On radio we're covered on Long Island's WBAB along with 94.3 The Shark and for the entire NY Metro region we've added Q104.3FM and we're back with WFUV and the PEAK which gives us the Hudson Valley and Westchester as well.

Our banner ads with sponsor Gbase running February through April already has seen 312,667 impressions and 599 click throughs, along with the wonderful interview article they did with us that is set to run again this month. Our media partner this year is Premier Guitar with a geo-targeted banner ad campaign for NY, NJ, CT & PA. This started after St. Patty's Day and by Easter we'd already seen over 100,000 banner impressions! I think we're well diversified.

Our ads in Vintage Guitar magazine have run three consecutive months and VG is set to do an e-newsletter blast to 1,472 subscribers in the NY, NJ, CT & PA region.

Re: NY Guitar Show April 27 & 28

Looks like we are expanding into the lobby of the Freeport Rec Center. Electro-Harmonix pedals of Long Island City called yesterday and they want a booth and Music Store Live.com of VT, with some fantastic vintage gear, called to say they want four booths. Now Wave Digital and others have taken booths as we have plenty of space in the lobby now…we can expand and now are looking for others who want in to the show at the last minute. For you luthiers or wanna be luthiers see GluBoost at the show: The New Standard in Glue Accelerators

I just came back from the Expo and to be honest it didn't thrill me. If you're into used guitars and stuff fine. It's in the equivalent of a high school gym

It just seemed strange. My local music shop was there and displayed about ten or twenty guitars versus the hundreds in their store. The guy i know simply said "you've seen everything we have here already" And they don't charge me admission to look around their store. Yes the Gibson bus was there (not sure if it was set up yet) but to me it had the look of a flea market. Yes a lot of used guitars which was nice but the whole thing just threw me off.  The idea of paying admission was just off putting. Although I DID buy a new guitar from a vendor I had purchased an acoustic from before.

Re: NY Guitar Show April 27 & 28

Try a NAMM show if you can fanangle a pass. Otherwise most guitar shows are retailers selling used guitars and gear. Go back tomorrow for the best deals. But some vendors will bring the same crap show after show and never budge on price.

It was a nice road trip from NJ to LI with the weather finally approaching spring but I agree. And I havent had my car out for a run in a while. Just seems like they should have paid me to attend rather than charge admission. Or at least let the vendors foot the bill.

I'll attempt a pic when I get home. Spent the night at a local hotel near the venue.

I don't know. Every guitar show I've ever been to was pretty much like this one, a high school gym a hotel banquet room. What were you expecting Bump? I saw some pretty good deals on some non custom shop used Gibsons and Fenders along with some boutique guitar makers both electric and acoustic. A fair amount of over-priced vintage guitars and plenty of vendors plying thier wares along with some pretty good guitarists demoing for various products.

I've never been to Namm, maybe one day, but, I was not disappointed in the least with this show and the $10 at the door did not offend me. I ended up staying for an hour and a half and bought some case humidifiers for an acoustic I just bought off ebay.
