Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

A sad day indeed. The Outlaw's self-titled debut album ranks VERY high among my all-time favorite recordings.

Green grass and high tides forever.

Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

I'm so bummed out. Hughie was one of my all-time favorite players. It was a wish come true when he joined Skynyrd, they never sounded better than during the era he played with them. He took Sweet Home Alabama to a whole new level. I stepped onto Joe's bus last summer wearing an Outlaws t-shirt and met his dad Len and the first thing he said to me was wow did you get to see those guys, how were they. Needless to say we hit it off right from there. Then another dream came true when Hughie put The Outlaws back together in '05 for the reunion tour and then after the response they got kept it going. There was a new CD in the works titled Once An Outlaw that I hope still sees the light of day now as a tribute to Hughie.

I'm in complete shock- I was lucky enough to get to see Mr. Thomasson when he was with Skynyrd- blew me away... I was also at the first Skynyrd show that was played without him- it just wasn't the same... My condolences to all his friends and family.  I never knew it but he lived just a few minutes away from me in Florida.  What a shame to see someone this talented go so soon- he was only 55- way too young for anyone to die.

Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

What a bummer, I'm going all "Outlaws" today, it's only fitting, Green Grass at full volume, sorry neighbors, you wouldnt understand! I just lost part of my youth.

Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

I had to skip the Volunteer Jam in June when they played out here because it was the same night my son graduated high school. I had tix in Jan. and didn't have a clue about grad night at that point. Little did I know it was my last chance to see Hughie play. This has been bumming me all day and will continue to do so. Half the Outlaws are together again at a celestial gig, you know it's making a heavenly sound.

Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

Fortunate enough to see him perform several times, both with the Outlaws and Skynyrd. One of the highlights of the Outlaw show was when they came back for the encore and Hughie says....."The only question is.......do you want the short,........the medium........or the LONG version of Green Grass!" and the crowd went nuts. Needless to say it was about a 30 min version! R.I.P. Hughie.

Re: HUGHIE THOMASSON RIP

Definitely a sad day.

Just saw the Outlaws at the Pepsi Road House in Burgettstown, PA last fall.

The Outlaws first album is absolutely one of my all time favorites.
