Thanks for sharing this Lyn smile I was so close to mentioning it on here, but thought I'd keep it quiet until it went up on the website (all we need now is a name!)... So happy to have got this gig, will be such a fun night.

Can't wait - anybody got any ideas for a band name? lol

It's all thanks to you Rus that I discovered this band big_smile  (Cheshire Cat grin again) and I reckon you must have had some influence on getting the band down here.

Band names are tricksy.  I liked Colt 45, wasn't so keen on Bad Magic although I could see where you were coming from on that one.

Re: The Temperance Movement

A-maze-ing video as always Pete.  It was the next best thing to being there, although I'd rather than been there than here.  I bet it was a fun night.  Looks like you got clocked by the lead singer during My Only Friend (around 3'41).

Already ordered by tickets for Mr Kyps on 27 April where Rus and his as-yet-unnamed-band will be the support act (I thought I'd give them another plug!).

Re: The Temperance Movement

Back in 2006 I had the privilege of seeing Joe Bonamassa perform at Mr Kyps in Poole to an audience of around 100 people.  After the show, I knew that all of us there that night had not only witnessed a tremendous talent but one that was going to go far – and we all know how Joe’s career has turned out since then.

Flip forward seven years and I got the same feeling when I went to see The Temperance Movement at Mr Kyps on Saturday.  This was my most hotly anticipated gig of the year and they didn’t disappoint one bit.  Kicking off with Be Lucky they totally owned a packed and enthusiastic Kyps finishing their one and a bit hour long set with a rousing version of Only Friend which had the audience singing and waving along.  At the end of the show, the merch stand was understandably packed and the guys from the band were happy to mingle with the audience, sign photos, set lists etc.

Checking their website this morning they’ve had to add extra tour dates because of pheonomenal demand, plus they’re supporting Bruce Springsteen at the Hard Rock Calling weekend 29 and 30 June.  If that wasn’t enough to look forward to, then their debut album is due to be released on around 16 September and will comprise 14 tracks including those on the EP.

Forget your Britain’s Got Talent, The Voice and X-Factor and all that plastic, manufactured rubbish that passes as music nowadays.  If you’re in the UK, get yourselves along to see The Temperance Movement while you still can and see for yourself what everyone else who has seen them is talking about.

Onto another talented bunch - got to give a name check to Rus’s band, the newly-christened  Walk the Night, who supported The Temperance Movement.  These four very accomplished young guys write and perform their own songs and certainly got the audience going.  Hopefully we’ll see more of them locally and an EP release (hint, hint).

Re: The Temperance Movement

Got my ticket today for the Brighton gig.

Really looking forward to it based on all the comments here and the stuff played  on Planet Rock.

The entire cost of ticket was less than some booking fees i've payed recently!

Hope it's a good turn out. We don't get too many rock bands down here ( Never thought i'd get to see Joe once, let alone twice in Brighton ) so need to make them see it's worth their while.

Re: The Temperance Movement

Nice review, Lyn. I hadn't seen the new dates that have been added and after reading your glowing report my appetite was suitably whetted until I saw that they are playing my town on the same day as I'm seeing Gov't Mule in London. hmm

There are enough gaps in the tour schedule for another London date so if anyone hears of one, please let me know. I missed the 100 Club gig as I was on hols. I might get to see them one day.
