Topic: San Jose, April 18

Set similar to Sacramento the night before, with a couple changes.  Mountain Time added here, and Asking Around for You was left out.

Crowd was rabid.  Joe was even wilder than in Sacramento the night before.1

My 10th Joe show was the charm!

wildchild50, it was my first Joe Bonamassa concert, too! I couldn't believe he was going to play in San Jose. I'm really glad he did; it was a lot of fun.

Wasn't that long ago I saw him over the hill @ Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz, twice '06 & '07.

He has been switching them TBOJH and Mountain time out and I have seen both. I didn't miss Mountain time but when it was played the third night I say it was like seeing an old friend. It was even better.

This was my first time seeing Joe, in fact, I haven't been to a concert in over 40 years. He is soooooo good! I was really trippin' off the piano player during the acoustic session. He's really good. The seats I had were nine rows from the stage and to left on the main floor. The music was almost too loud for where I was sitting and at times too loud to fully enjoy the concert. I couldn't see the organ player during the electric session because he was behind a giant speaker/amp. Taking all this into account, it was still JOE BONAMASSA! Cool!!

Any closer in and it would pass over you. and further back theres that ole inverse square law!!  You didnt really miss that much of Arlan. Except for a few times when he either stood up or knelt down on the floor he was pretty invisible from anywhere. The main thing you missed (assuming it was in that set) was the extended trading of lines between Arlan and Joe, where you could probably see JB and not Arlan.

You had a great view of Joe for a great show!

I think you're right about my seat location. You're also correct about the trade between Arlan & JB. I only saw JB, however, the exchange was really cool! The crowd loved it.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been buying everything Joe puts out for quite a few years now. I like that he's been teaming up with Beth Hart lately. I've known about her ever since she won Star Search in 1993. I've gotten a few folks "addicted" to Joe on this other Forum I frequent. I'm glad I finally got to the show as well. I would like to see Joe out on tour with Beth.

From your mouth to Joe and Beth's ears. I know they are playing Europe in June but that is a tough road trip for a lot of people (though I know this forum has many many Joe and Beth fans in Europe). I can't tell you how many people I know that are genuinely excited about them putting on some kind of tour here in the States. I am ready to do what I have to see it here in the US as are many of my friends.

Wow ten shows . I am working on six shows now with Minneapolis and Rockford. Dont you think its saying something when so many fans go to multiple shows? Part of why that happens is the way Joe changes things up and keeps it fresh and new. That has to be so hard to keep that kind of energy level in what he does. It just shows how much he truly cares what the fans think and really wants to please everyone. I saw Steve Winwood in Chicago last year and sat in the 4th row. While it was a good show , the energy level was not anywhere close to Joe. Dont get me wrong , Winwood is an icon in the music buisness and just a little older than Joe . LOL  his show was great but when you get used to the Joe Bonamassa guitar events you expect to see that kind of energy and thats hard to do.

Thanks for the welcome, Jane H! I have loved the blues for years; I have many CDs from Albert KIng, Buddy Guy, B. B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc. When I started exploring on Amazon to find other artists recommended there, I found Joe and started buying his CDs. What a discovery! It's like pistachios - you can't stop at just one JB album!

Love Joe. Love is an understatement. Was totally impressed by his band at the SJ show...incredible musicianship all around...seems like a foregone conclusion for Joe. The man rocks. My only issue with the show was the seat I had (section 106, left side floor behind the frontmost floor section) and the sound quality in this area.

My view was the most obstructed by other attendees as any show I have ever attended...period. It was like I was at the 405/101 interchange, and the stage was barely visible because of the intervening pedestrians. Not Joe's fault, of course.

The sound...can't quite figure it out and would appreciate comments from others who were there. I could barely hear the show. I literally could not understand a single word that Joe said...it was like I was in some sort of acoustic dead zone. When he spoke and shared anecdotes between a few songs, I could not make out what he was saying. I thought it might have been me getting older and deafer...but when I got up to pee about 2/3 through, and stood just 40 feet to the left, near the exit doors.. the sound was incredible! I hung out and was loving it until the ushers got tired of looking at me, and back at my seat...couldn't hear again! I could easily hear people talking around me and chalk it up to some sort of acoustic anomaly in that hall, which is beautiful to look at.

Love to sit closer and in a sweeter spot next show. Peace to all JB fans! Thanks for the great forum.
