Wow, what a night in Cardiff last night. Not a sell out, but not far off, incredible atmosphere. Got to agree with Ian916, it's in my top 3 gigs definitely.

So much energy from every member, and what an incredible voice Jay Buchanan has, powerful when it needs to be, but soft and warm for the slower numbers. Truly versatile. Backing harmonies and superb drums from Michael Miley, and what a nice guy. He stayed on stage for 2 or 3 minutes after the lights went up, throwing picks and sticks into the crowd and giving out setlists. He struck me as a man who enjoys every minute of his work, and isn't just there going through the motions every night. A strong, groovy bass line kept everything in check, and then we get to Scott Holiday on guitar. Man, the guy can play. The Pelham Blue Firebird is beautiful, and he plays it in such a unique way. If this band don't become massive, there's something wrong with the world. Anyone who's in two minds about going to see them, go. It's the best £12.50 I've spent in a long time.

The band were fantastic and Jay Buchanan, the singer, is an amazing talent.

I did wish at the time though, that I was up in the balcony with Ian.  There was a lot of pushing and shoving in the stalls although none of it was aggressive, just people trying to get a better place through a tightly packed crowd. The bruise has healed now Phil. There was a group of young women, a bit worse for wear for drink, dancing near me. One was a bit unsteady and I got stabbed with her stiletto heel right on the top of my foot. Ouch! The things we go through in pursuit of great music, eh?

Really enjoyed Cardiff gig on Wesdnesday night and got a front row spot with my wife for the duration which was very cool..

Great gig, amazing band, love Jay's vocals, and even grabbed the nights set list from the riser from Mike after, 10/10.

They most definitely are! Fantastic gig last night in Edinburgh, surely they'll be moving up to arena size gigs before too much longer.

Killer gig last night. He nearly shot his voice out though. Few sips of tea and he made it through. Rarely have a seen a front-man so devoted to singing and the songs themselves. Truly excellent all round.

I've been following Rival Sons' Facebook page and thought I'd relay some recent news.

Rival Sons will be playing a short acoustic set at 6:00pm to 6:30pm Friday 19th April for The Station Sessions in St. Pancras station, London raising money for NSPCC. The set will be live streamed worldwide at:

It doesn't make sense me travelling all the way into London for a 30 minute set (even for Rival Sons) so I'll be listening on the live stream.

Also, they announced:

We'll be live on Planet Rock radio at 5pm UK time having a chat with our old pal Darren Redick. We think he's planning some mischief...

that's 5pm tonight and:

April 20th we'll be playing live on the Dermot O'Leary BBC Radio 2 show
