Topic: Grand Rex Paris

Great show yesterday (and not an april fool!): Joe at the Grand Rex, on this 1st of april, a wonderful place (a cinema in fact) to see such wonderful artists. 4 days after Beth Hart at l'Olympia, it has been great to see another great hard blues act.
Just in case somebody has it: i am looking after the accurate setlist of this 1st april...
Many thanks in advance if you can send it,
cheers.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

If anyone has a set-list for Paris can they please post it.
It will be interesting to see if it's the same as RAH, or a composite of the 4 London gigs.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

I'll give it a try. There may be a few errors and forgotten items, but it should not be very far from the truth. Please could someone fill the holes.
Thanks
Roland

It began with an acoustic set :
- Seagull (Paul Rodgers' Bad Company cover)
- ???
- ???
- ???

Then the electric set :
- Slow Train
- Dust bowl
- Dislocated boy
- Driving towards the daylight
- Who's been talking
- Midnight Blues
- Young man blues
- ???
- Ballad Of John Henry

encore:
- Asking Around for You
- ???

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Thank you Roland for the Paris setlist. I made some additions below, but it is still not complete. It would be great if someone else could fill the gaps.

It was my first Joe concert and what a shock ! I have seen many many concerts but I place this one within the very best ones I have ever seen in my life ! Thank you so much Mr. Bonamassa ! I am already impatient to get the DVDs of the London concerts and to go back to as many future Joe's concerts as I can.

Acoustic set :
- Highway to hell
- Seagull (Paul Rodgers' Bad Company cover)
- Jelly Roll
- ???
- Athens to Athens
- ???

Electric set :
- Slow Train
- Dust bowl
- Midnight Blues (I am sure of its position in the setlist)
- Dislocated boy
- Driving towards the daylight
- Who's been talking
- Look over Yonders wall
- Young man blues
- ??? (I belive that John Henry immediately followed Young man blues)
- Ballad Of John Henry
encore:
- Asking Around for You
- Just got paid

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Thanks a lot to both of you.
As a minor addition, the last song was more a medley starting with ZZ top (just got paid) and ending with Led Zep (dazed and confused, I believe).
To see the other setlists of JB tour, you can go there:

The accoustic set in Paris seemed to be as the one from the Hammersmith in London.

What do you think?
Cheers, Phil.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

It looks pretty good, but I have an addition: Joe also played "Jockey full of bourbon" before "Athens to Athens".
Cheers, Al.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Thank you Al; actually it fills quite well the gap we had.
So we could go for:

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Fantastic !
What a wondeful teamwork.
The result is here.
Many thanks to all contributors
Hope to meet you all at next Joe's concert :-)
By the way I will attend Eric Johnson concert at The New Morning on April 23.
Anyone coming too ?
Roland

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Hi Roland,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to the Eric johnson concert. I go to only a few concerts per year in Paris since I live quite far away. The previous one was Robert Cray at the New Morning in February and the next one will be George Thorogood in July at the Trianon.
I wish you an excellent Eric johnson concert.
Al.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Yes Roland, pretty cool.
No Eric Johnson for me, have a good show (you surely will).
I am considering George Thorogood...
But I go to so many concert... Steve Hackett next week (i love so much his guitar sound), Sixto Rodriguez (incredible story), Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Gov't Mule... so many (too much actually for my wife and my banker!!!).
(And missing Johnny Winter, ZZ top... I have seen them too much).

If I can recommand one: go to Gov't Mule at the Trianon, the 7th of July. Always incredible shows from very talented musicians and fantastic guitar from Warren Haynes...

See you one day to a concert...
Cheers Phil.

PS: You can already buy Beth Hart tickets for her next year show at the Olympia!!!

I hope you know what you do and where you are on the 12th of march 2014.

Re: Grand Rex Paris

Hi Fabphill and Bluesbreaker,
I also attended Robert Cray at the New Morning and found this concert to be a pure jewel !
And yes, Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule are excellent (I keep watching the "Deepest End" DVD), I didn't know they were in Paris again, thanks for telling me, I think I will resist to my wife and my banker once again !  :-)
Also, I will listen to Beth Hart, I don't know her at all.
Cheers
Roland
