Thank you sound engineers at the control board for fixing the vocal microphone after Jelly Roll. That could have been a real heartbreaker for me. Listen to that song and you will understand what almost spoiled an incredible show.
My CD/DVD was waiting on my front porch when I got home today. I cranked up An Acoustic Evening while I cooked dinner tonight. WOW, this is simply outstanding, I LOVE IT!! The sound is PHENOMENAL, my system never sounded so good. Listening for the second time now, can't wait to see the DVD. Just really lovin' it!!
Best of Luck Joe!! I hope your performance at the Vienna Opera House resonates around the world!
First thing to say is I'm more of a rip and shred guy so acoustic just isn't my thing. That being said this is a very good DVD. I still miss hearing Joe rip it up on JH,Dislocated Boy, Slow Train ect.., can't help it just miss that mean electric!! The arangements on this DVD are great though with Sloe Gin almost bringing me to tears. Just sooo haunting. Stones in My Passway,Jockey Full of Bourbon and Dust Bowl also some of my faves. I guess just comparing it to the RAH and Beacon Thearter DVD's I just prefer electric live. Great Job Joe a must have for any fan!!
Just finished watching my blu-ray copy. Simply outstanding!! I also *really* enjoyed both the concert, as well as both extended segments in the extras section. Very interesting.
I think this CD/DVD is superb! Love the acoustic arrangements and the atypical instruments used. This is one of my favorite projects Joe has ever released.
Sat down this Easter evening to watch the BluRay for the first time. It really is fantastic! Highlights for me on first listen; "Around The Bend", one of my favorite compositions by Joe; "Ball Peen Hammer", a song that since I've heard Joe do it about 6 years ago I thought he just nailed it and the Vienna version is my favorite; and "Sloe Gin", which almost needs no explanation - just stunning!

Just read this , so good. Liked and agreed with all written here
Sorry for the big bump but picked this up a couple of weeks ago and had to say I absolutely love it.
I was very pleased for the acoustic first four songs we got in Sydney 12 months ago but those in the Vienna audience got to witness something very special.
Just brilliant and for mine must be an essential part of any Joe collection.
I knew what it was all about when he did it. At first I what umm
but now it's really grown on me, Esp Seagull
Well, my better half got the blueray as a birthday present from his secretary who told us in 2009 about the "BONAWHO" Joe. After visiting his evening in Darmstadt we fall in love with his music and uncredible talent.
The last two evenings we listened the Vienna acoustic stuff and today the tracks 16 till 22 probably are to be seen and to be heard.
I can`t find an English word for the unique performance of all musicians engaged in this extraordinary project. It`s a sweet memory of Joe`s acoustic concert in Mainz last July and one of my birthday wishes for September, 1 : The double CD from Vienna for my car!
The Vienna Opera House is a wonderful ambiente of this megaevent, great choice. My eyes loved it.
Today I´m goin´ to watch the Vienna-show on big screen at the Wiener Rathausplatz - filmfestival.
Can´t wait!
