Topic: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

One of my favorite Joe songs is "Chains and Things" yet it is not on any CD that I know of. I know it came as a bonus track for The Ballad of John Henry but it is such a good song and I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't even know it exists since it is not
on any CD. You have to go to Joe's website store to find it and it only comes as a downloadable song. I, myself, think Joe should add it to one of his CD's. It is a great song!

Re: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

I agree.I have also asked the question before, if there are other non released tracks that might be worthy to have a "rare tracks"cd.Maybe a couple live cover songs Joes done in the far past would be cool to have on cd also. The other flips side is if The Chains and Things ever gets redone and  land on a future album.I keep thinking there are some burried bonatreasure out there!

Re: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

It appeared on a Japanese release of Black Rock. The Japanese I was told like to offer unique releases from the artists other works. It was available only on Itunes as a special bonus but no longer is. There was also another track on that Japanese release that make it worth the added cost of buying the import. Can't Find No Mercy..

Re: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

The Japanese Black Rock is a HDCD (High Def)
It sounds amazing and can be played in any CD player

Well worth the money for the Audio and both bonus tracks
Chains and Things and
Can't find No Mercy which is a rockn Gary Moore cover

Joe these would be great additions to work into setlists

I think it is Gary Wright the Dreamweaver guy not Gary Moore. I love Joe's version.

...sorry to digress but does anyone know why the Japanese market seems to get all the 'specials'?

I found "Can't Find No Mercy" not long ago. Thanks to someone on FB Bonanation. Got it from Joe's website. I'm pretty sure "Chains and Things" came via email back just before BOJH came out. If I remember right, which is questionable at my age!
Anyway, I so love the song and wish Joe would include it on a cd so others can hear and enjoy it. Maybe someday. Thanks.

I agree with this question. Why?

I agree with this question. Why?

I wish you could buy the "special edition" digipacks that get released in the European market over here.  I have got in the habit of ordering all Joe's releases that are available this way (at the same time I order my vinyl form across the pond).

Jim answered the question about Japan in the thread (post #3).

Oh I was going to make a smart comment but political correctness won over!

Re: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

Hi all, was at Shepherds Bush last night, where this song was performed. This was the only song i didn't know last night, and wow what a beautiful song. Having read this Topic i see it is only available with the Japanese Edition of Black Rock, of which i can't find a copy for purchase anywhere online, with the exception of on Amazon for £60 (was searching when i got in from the show last nigh).  If anyone knows where i can order this edition of the album please let me know. Failing that if anyone has a copy and could email me an mp3 version I would be eternally grateful (Don't think I can wait until the DVD release to hear it again). To anyone who can email it, i have a large collection of Special Edition albums and bootlegs and am confident i can return such a kind deed. Thanks all. Hope to hear from someone on this subject soon.

Re: Why Chains and Things not on a cd?

I checked Joe's store where I recall it being offered. Only Can't Find No Mercy is there. Send me a message I might be able to help you. Also check out BB King's version on Indianola Mississippi Seeds album one of my favorite BB King Albums.

Nancy..

How do you think Joe's sister is going to make millions and millions 40 years after Joe's death if Joe released every song he has ever done?

the store also has some search quirks but there is more there than it seems depending on how you get to it and such

don't mind the fact its under TBOJH..... wink

again thanks in a big way to the webmaster who got this approved to be offered there because of our requests

Should of asked you first Jane before I replied. You know more about the store than  J&R I would guess.

Thanks it is indeed on Joe's Store page, couldn't find it last night. Of course that's why it sounded sort of familiar 'Indianola Mississippi Seeds' is a great album. Thanks again.
