Slow Train
So Its Like That
Midnight Blues
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
You Better Watch Yourself
Chains and Things
Lonesome Road Blues
Stop
I Got All You Need
Great Flood
Ballad Of John Henry

encore:

I wondered if I Got All You Need would appear, that is really cool. Would have loved to have seen Chains and Things and Great Flood as well. Looks like quite the night of Blues!

Re: Shepherds Bush Empire

Hi all, just got home from the Shepherds Bush show, was fantastic, what a setlist, however, the show was very short, a mere 14 songs. Still well worth the ticket price and a night out, but i think alot of people were expecting more than 1 hour 45 mins stage time. Highlights for me were Midnight Blues and Asking Around For You, but i'd say the most powerful performance of the evening was without contest The Great Flood. Still shocked that Blues Night did not feature a single track from Blues Deluxe. Can't wait to see what Joe has to offer tomorrow night at Hammersmith. I am now gonna kick back and relax after a fantastic performance.

I haven't seen Joe play a show less than 2 hours in 4 years. Saving some for Royal Albert Hall perhaps.

Re: Shepherds Bush Empire

- just back so excuse the brief words:

Nearly did n't get there, - I drove by and could not believe the length of the cues. Got inside and it was packed, and I mean packed. Managed to squeeze into the only visible place at the back of the hall next to the bar, but had a good view albeit a little further back that I would have liked. 7.55pm and sound is tuned up with a  Led Zep number (whose name escapes me right now), - no more 2 Minutes to Midnight? Joe made a superb entry being backlight and straight into Slow Train, and this is where the problem started.... - the place IMO had been oversold, - people were pushing and shoving, arguing, bouncers throwing people out because they refused to move off of a step, rowdy people talking through the quiet bits at the bar, too many men with weak bladders drinking too much going back and forth....and just plain rudeness from too many people. Moan over.

- Joe was superb, the one positive I guess from being at the back was the overall sound was brilliant, horns spot on. Keyboards/hammond, - WOW! The rework of John Henry was incredible. Carmen and Tal, - what a unit. No Fender's on stage tonight, but plenty of Gibson's. The tone coming out was fantastic. Okay I was a bit surprised at 9.45pm that it was all over, but we had seen and more importantly heard perfection. It was an historic night and Joe is at the top of his game, - but sadly he is too big to play venues like this (and I hate to say it) any longer.

My YouTube channel with plenty of my Joe's videos dating from 2009 inc his first Hammersmith Odeon ones:

I am absolutely not staying up like last night. I can wait for anything now, but I was just jonesing so badly for P&S that I had to stay up all night. wink

Thanks to Ian and cigarman for their reports. I'll await vids from our own 'in-house' filmers tomorrow.

Don't stay up for mine. The show was great as expected. Highlites for me were BOJH in the new version. Just killer! Great Flood, always one of my favorites when in rotation and Asking around for you. Everything was super as far as sound where we were in the front of the first balcony. A bit far for decent vids but I shot a lot to get audio at least. Pete was in position alfa so he should have the goods. Great hang with the crew in a nearby pub pre and post show again. big_smile
Give it 4 hours or so and The River/Burning Hell should salve the need for feed. tongue I'll set it to upload and hope for the best.

Thanks for the review and thanks also for the upcoming video. Can't wait to watch it tomorrow with breakfast!

Re: Shepherds Bush Empire

Well, I dont feel it was short... 1:45 is a good length for a show, especially when its part of a 5 part series.. Last night was 1:40 but I think the intensity of the trio and the small venue made up for it..  Its been such a blast to do this but so much work..  I doubt the stamina to try this again..  But I have to say for me there is no greater pleasure in life than playing a blues shuffle with horns..  Its just me but I was in heaven tonight..  See you tomorrow for something completely different!!!

Re: Shepherds Bush Empire

Yeah....when you give people their money's worth...which you always do in spades...then 1:45 is great....always worth the money !!

While i did state that the show seemed very short. I in the next sentence proclaimed to the fact it was certainly the money's worth. It's merely a case of the event being advertised ages ago as featuring 80 songs, so presumably 20 songs a night, therefore i was surprised when 14 where performed. Also in the past when I've seen Joe 18-20 songs have been performed, which seemed in-keeping with an average of 20 songs a night, as promoted for this superb run of shows. The show was fantastic and I stated clearly as such. I am sorry to have caused any offense.
