Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

If you can trust one man concerning amplifiers and pedals it is Peter van Weelden!!!!!!!!!!! I don't play guitar at all but I know all he says is always very true, so it will be the same about the new pedal.
Peter always goes for quality not the big money.

Hello to everyone out here,

The Van Weelden Royal Overdrive is NOT another copy or modification of already existing distortionpedals.
This is a completely NEW design.
It gives you the feel and elastic sound of an overdriven tube amp.
Top quality components and design.
Yes, most likely somewhat more expensive than your regular distortionpedal but way more times better quality.

I believe that you can only truly judge the quality of something like this, if you have heard it upclose or have played it yourself like I have.
It is like nothing you have ever heard before; it's that good, believe it.
I suggest you get your hands on one and never let it go.

Greetings from the Netherlands.

When will info and price be available?

Alan

Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

Hi All
Below are sound clips that Peter provided me for the Royal Overdrive.
As a sneak peak he  sent me an example of what you can get with a les Paul, 100W super lead or any equal head, 4x12 cab, both clips were recorded in his shop on low volume so there's no speaker or power-amp distortion just a totally clean 100W super lead. He used a SM57, no compression or EQ. So these are raw recordings and you have to be careful with your computer speakers ;-) These are experimental clips and the mic was just set in front of the speaker. Moving it will create a more open and brighter sound but this is all a matter of taste for the user. The pictures are of one of my bands in the mid seventies.
Cheers Ron

That is a really great sounding pedal.

Yes it works!

First impression, sounds like a smaller version of the gainland... definately brown soundish...
Indeed very good articulation for the amount of gain. But I cannot judge any further.. this is also something the wampler triple wreck is capable of achieving.

Looking forward to have it in my hands to try for myself.

Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

Sounds hollow and nasily to me. Good definition though.
How is it meant to be used?

As Dave also said sounds very nasal. Put a Wah pedal in a fixed position in front of a Gristle Drive/TS or anything else and you could get a similar effect. Absolutely sure you would only justify the cost of this by actually playing one.

I will report back when I receive mine and try for myself. But that could be sometime. I am sure I will not be disappointed. As far as people working on their fingers first that goes without saying.
