Topic: UK dates February 2008 ..

You lucky, lucky people in the north of England.  Everything comes to them who wait ...  but I still can't help being envious of you.

Re: UK dates February 2008 ..

Great news, Frome here I come

Re: UK dates February 2008 ..

Can't wait!!!!

We already booked our tickets for Manchester last week, as soon as we realised Joe would be playing there.

Now I see he will be playing at Birkenhead also, which is even closer to home for us, so I guess we will just have to go there too!!

Still, it makes up for August when most of his gigs were in the south of England. Even so, we managed to catch him in Tavistock on 2nd August as we just happened to be on holiday nearby...we had to take our children with us, so they were the youngest members of the audience that day...

It's great to see Joe will be playing so many dates in the UK, I make it 14 over about three weeks!!!

Re: UK dates February 2008 ..

Joe, Ipswich Regent Theatre is a fantastic venue. I saw Bonnie Raitt there not so long ago....you'd love it. So.....fancy adding it to the UK tour? wink

Re: UK dates February 2008 ..

smile NO!!!...Because The Regent is a very old theatre along the lines of the Empire Shepherds Bush (but without the drunks) with bags of character and it seat's around 2000 whereas the 53 Degrees isn't....but it looks impressive as concrete blocks go smile By the way Ges, I assume that the guitars in your avatar are yours.....are you a lefty?

Hi GSJ

Yes they are mine and yes (unfortunately) I am a lefty. One a 30ish year old Ibanez copy (nice though) and the other a Gibson Standard.
What a major source of frustration.

Been to London past couple of days on business but found time just before I left to go into Sound Control in the basement of Virgin Megastore (had copies of SG in the mainstream section). Only one lefty !! and that was a mega cheap beginners guitar. I think this company really misses out on the lefties of the world. They stock hardly any. Flagship store has one !! HA!!
They should take a lesson from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. Best geetar shop I've ever been in.

Also, got back to the local railway station at 8.30 to be picked up by wife who needed no persuasion to call into a pub where jam night was setting up. I had a chat to a few of the guys I have got to know there who were getting out their guitars (righties) She could probably feel the frustration because on the drive home she mentioned how awful it must be to be in the presence of guitars and not be able to play one. Oh how she has hit it right on the head.

Do you know the 53 degrees then ??
It look more like its made out of Kit Kat wrappers than concrete smile

Welcome to paradise.....I manage a guitar store and my Managing Director is a lefty. We stock the largest selection of left-hand guitars in the UK....step in to my office smile Seriously, I'm not looking for a 'sale' on here, it'd be wrong....and we don't need the money smile but if you need any help with all things Lefty then drop me an email and I'll be happy to help....no fee!!!

I don't know 53 Degrees but I do know The Regent wink

My missus won't mind

BTW the SG I referred to below was Sloe Gin not the Gibson.
Just happy to see a few copies in the mainstream section rather than.......errrrrr none at all anywhere.

I move back to Manchester on Saturday before Uni term starts again. I'll be getting my tickets this week and I thought that was far in advance.

Re: UK dates February 2008 ..

I've known American fans to think nothing of travelling a few hundred miles to a gig, but here in England, a few hundred miles is by no means the same. You've got long stretches of road with barely any traffic, whereas we have loads of traffic & loads of towns inbetween. It takes a lot longer.

Having said that, Joe is about the only artist I'd travel for.

Again & again.
