Topic: The great Jeff Beck thread

I'm starting this Jeff Beck thread since i couldn't find any.
Post anything about Jeff in here. From good youtube clips to tour dates and such.
I found out about Jeffs music only 6 months ago or something and I'm already a big fan.
Does anyone know what he does these days?

Anyways.. I start with this song.

A true legend.  Live at Ronnie Scott's is a great show. Definitely worth owning (and the CD as well)

He's got so many great albums, and so many unique phases in his career.  Truth, Wired and Guitar Shop are three big ones for me.

I saw him at House of Blues about 5-6 years ago.  Great show.  He's still out there playing.

I was at the Ronnie Scott's show. I was mesmerised to say the least. Truth is one of the first albums I bought and is still a classic.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

I had the pleasure to see Jeff on The Fire Meets The Fury tour with Stevie Ray Vaughan back in 1989.

That's awesome, as great as it is on DVD, nothing like being there in person.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

I saw him with Clapton a few years back and then locally with his wife opening. This is recent lol, seen him many times years ago. He and his band ROCK

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

One of my favorites for sure.....
We saw him last time around here....Tyler Bryant opened up the show.
Patiently waited afterward and got 2 autographs...
A 2010- tour book now framed & matted  and an older EPI-Strat-"hockey-style neck style" signed.....made my night for sure!!!

Also  saw Jeff at the :The Fire  meets the fury with S.R.V. There & Back Tour, With Carlos Santana in the 90's
& had tickets way back when Jeff was supposed to appear at a stadium show...I believe Heart was to appear as well...

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

Jeff Beck! A legend who walks his own path in guitar, blazing a trail few can follow. He makes that strat talk and sing in a way no one else can.  You have a lot of catching up to do rioi!
All the releases mentioned are good starters. He always plays what he wants, not what some would like to hear. No genre is safe from his exploration, which he does to a tee. He doesn't sing but attracts great vocalists. His band changes frequently as he picks and chooses to suit his latest musical explorations. If you get the chance to see him play, pay what it takes to do so. Other older and famous stars seem to rest on past achievements. He never does that I know of.
That is how I see him. I stand in awe.
I and some other forum members had the pleasure to see the famous Triple JB gig in Bonn. Jimmy Bowskill opened, then Joe Bonamassa took the stage followed by Jeff Beck! Blues Rock Heaven my friend. big_smile

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

He has been my #1 fav guitarist for a long time now. I think I have all of his CD's except Flash, and actually would like to have it as well just for Fascination and People Get Ready. I am thankful that I got to see him on the Who Else tour, sure did not want him to end up on my bucket list. yep Rick, I stand in awe as well.

My partner who is more versed in opera was thrilled by Nessun Dorma which he seems to do often now

There is a story attached to this show. Jeff deliberately chose the date as it was the day after the Led Zeppelin gig at the O2. I would have put money on either Jimmy or Robert making an appearance. As it was, the LZ gig was postponed so we'll never know.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

I've seen Jeff Beck 3 times now in the last few years, twice at the Royal Albert Hall, the first time of which he was joined by David Gilmour for the 2 track encore, and was possibly the coolest thing i've ever seen (how I love David Gilmour). I saw him play with Eric Clapton, also amazing. Finally i say him as a guest of the Rolling Stones at the 02 Arena last November to perform Freddie Kings Goin' Down. Jeff Beck is not necessarily my favourite guitarist, but he is in my opinion by far the best. The sound he can seemingly effortlessly produce from his instrument is just jaw dropping when you get to hear it live.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

He is one of those guitarists who can immediately be identified.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

I too saw Jeff and Stevie together. What a night!

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

Last I heard; and admittedly it was a while back - he was working on a "power-trio" album; maybe re-creating the BBA sound?

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

I certainly do Mike. Had the single. Away to look out the album and give it a spin.

I remember as well (dating myself) and can't wait to hear.

Re: The great Jeff Beck thread

Just checking  after this thread came up - I didn't have a copy of the There And Back album.

Gotta have that, even just for Star Cycle (or as we brits know it, theme from The Tube show).
