Topic: Irish Newbie

Hi guys and gals,

Apologies, I asked a question before properly introducing myself. Bad forum etiquette!

Name's Mike, from R.O.Ireland. Been a Joe fan for a few years now, long time blues fan...grew up listening to my fathers SRV albums! Still never got to see Joe live, he doesn't make it to Ireland much, if at all sad

I'm 29yo, play guitar in a working covers band this past 6 years, recording our own stuff too, livin the dream smile

Hmmm avid guitar collector, also have a stupid amount of stomp-box effects.....pitfalls of an addictive personality!

As you'll see in my other post i'm trying to find a goldtop to dip my toe in the Gibson waters.

Not really sure what more I can say really!

Look forward to getting to know some of you!

Thanks,

Mike

No need to apologize, this is, despite some objecting opinions, a loose place to hang your proverbial hat on.  Don't apologize, just keep posting! wink

Joe might not come to Ireland often, BUT......he has!  Sorry you missed him, Mike.  He even played some Rory Gallagher I heard! :win

We are probably going to refer to surnames or locations, etc. soon, for all the Mike's we have here. big_smile

Re: Irish Newbie

I know, he has, and I missed it. Considering travelling to England this year to see him. Worth it!!

Rory Gallagher's hometown is just down the road from me, I think I remember reading that Rory's brother presented Joe with the battered Strat. What a combination.

Do miss Joe ripping on a strat or a tele now and then. I'm sure he still does in the studio?!

Feel free to call me any name that makes life easier! Have an Irish Mike yet?! Mike D could work. Hardcase Mike.... (Not a tough guy, our drummer thought it funny to peel the "Hardcase" sticker off one of his Tom cases, and stick it to my back for a gig, could not work out why they kept calling me Hardcase! Not the greatest practical joke I agree, but the name stuck)

Hope to stick around for a while. Desperately trying to find a Gold top sad

Re: Irish Newbie

Thanks Coach! (Saying that makes me feel very American!)

Hope whatever ails you or whatever you've been through is behind you now and you're coming out stronger on the other side! May the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be ever at your back! smile

First impressions of the place are great, nice tight little community you have for yourselves here!
Everyone seems very helpful and patient do far (asked a few questions already, probably tedious to some to answer the same questions time and again!)

Never known a forum for anyone, not least a world famous musician, where the man in question chimes in regularly! That's pretty special if you ask me. It must be a strange feeling to converse with the man himself, even if it is across the boards!!

I'll stick around a while, another drawback of an addictive personality, especially when said personality is teamed up with an ever present iphone!

Thanks again for the welcome!!

Re: Irish Newbie

Welcome, glad you are here.  Joe also is a lurker here.  He may not post for awhile but you can bet he knows what is going on here.
