Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Awesome show once again!! Was cool to hear Coverdale/Page, very underrated album in my opinion. Blodwyn Pig & Trapeze are great as well!

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Listening to the all prog rock show, now.  Joe mentioned he might pull the New Day Yesterday/Starship Trooper/Wurm medley out of retirement, maybe.  I always liked it, so wouldn't mind it showing back up.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Rick, thanks a lot for the reminder.

Just heard Genesis Los Endos - GREAT.

I must be in the slow group 'cause I'm a complete newbie to Planet Rock.  So what happens when Joe is on tour?  Is his show temporarily suspended or does he just tape it for future airing?

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

He wasn't kidding all prog all rock. Genesis, King Crimson and a lot more. Pretty cool.
Rick
edit. He does the show by remote tape from the road. Sometimes a replay of an older show.

Make that +2 - loved every minute !!

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Here's the tracklist in case anyone missed the show:

Genesis - Watcher Of The Skies
Yes - Long Distance Runaround
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Jethro Tull - Cross Eyed Mary
Dream Theater - Pull Me Under
Asia - Heat Of The Moment
King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Lucky Man
Genesis - Los Endos

I haven't heard much of Dream Theater's music, but this song was really good. King Crimson is great as well.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Well, here's the music played on the radio show today:

ZZ Top - La Grange
Robert Plant - Hey Joe
Albert King - I'll Play The Blues For You
The Band - Up On Cripple Creek
Seal & Jeff Beck - Manic Depression
The Black Keys - Next Girl
Blondie Chaplin - Bye Bye Babe
Eric Clapton - Someday After A While
Robert Cray - I'm Done Crying
Eric Johnson - Cliffs Of Dover
Deep Purple - Stormbringer

Interesting version of Hey Joe, had never heard of Blondie Chaplin, but the song was pretty good. Eric Johnson's always great to hear as well.

Thanks for posting this. I'm always listening to a show in England. Do a search on this site for Blondie Chaplin and you'll see lots of discussion. Great show today! I wonder if Joe is dropping hints with the selections about London? Maybe a short list of guest possibilities....

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Amazed that the show is still 'live' and not recorded with such a busy schedule. Great music this week following last weeks prog show. Just gets better and better. big_smile
