Great reports back from my bank co-workers! They all loved it and they even had other family members that sat down to watch that hadn't seen anything of Joe before. My bossman said he liked the acoustic better than electric! Funny as I'm writing this, just got another text from a friend who saw it and loved it, too!
Joe Bonamassa, STAMPED WITH APPROVAL IN IOWA!

I watched it a few nights ago on PBS and immediately went to the JB store and pre-ordered the DVD. In a word - AWESOME. 5 weeks from tonight, I'll be seeing Joe at the Paramount in Seattle. I saw him there last year. It's a great venue.
Viewing party set here for tomorrow. Can't wait!

Better stick to the original plans you had, though, "just in case"...
Watched it last night. Magic as always! Even with the breaks by PBS for fundraising, I enjoyed it all so much. Can't wait for the DVD to come. I was afraid I would not like some of the arrangements but Joe is a genius. This is just so cool. Bet it was great to be there live
Don't understand why Central New York ignores Joe, but at least our local PBS will be airing the Vienna show this Tuesday.
Tuesday, March 12 — 9:15pm
24.1 - WCNY-DT
An acoustic outing from bluesman Joe Bonamassa at the Vienna Opera House in Vienna, Austria.
Here's a 2008 post from me regarding this (and my opinion has changed since then):
Speaking as a "local" ~ I have been speading the word for about 19 years now & have added many fans. BUT our local media have been TERRIBLE about promoting Joe here. I don't know why, and I have talked to the local newspaper's music critic about this but I just got some BS about it. We used to have an amazing music critic here, Brian Bourke, who helped spread the word, but he died years ago. We are now left with somebody who doesn't give Joe any press until the day before the show & then just has a small blurb. My guess is that some of the local critics have some kinda beef with Joe (if so, GET OVER IT!). I haven't even seen a write-up yet on "Sloe Gin" in the local paper. We do have another small run paper called "The Syracuse New Times" that does a decent job promoting Joe, but they could do MUCH better imho. One of our radio stations, WOUR, does a Gr8 job promoting Joe but I've heard next to nothing (nothing at all from some) from any other station. Same seems to go with our local TV reporters. Waaaay back in the early days (1990) there was a show called "Broadcast New York" that did a cool segment on Smokin' Joe. But other that that, I've seen nothing. As rabid of a Joe fan that I am, I might not even have heard of him today if my wife hadn't won 2 tickets to a Blues, Brews, & BBQ fest back in 1987 where Danny Gatton was one of the performers (Clarenece "Gatesmouth" Brown was another). During Danny's set, Joe was brought on stage to play one song with the band (Danny gave Joe his guitar and stood back). Needless to say ~ I was hooked! If fate hadn't put me there that day it is very possible that I wouldn't even know about Joe today. I am extremely greatful to Joe that he continues to book at least one show somewhere in CNY every tour. I'm guessing he does this for his family, but speaking as one of his longtime local fans ~ thanks for not giving up on CNY even though I wouldn't blame you if you did. It is unbelievable that you are not famous here. No surprise to me that you had to move away from here to further your carreer.
See you in Rochester in June!

7 PM tonight on channel 9 KQED in San Francisco. Gonna fire up the 60" and the surround sound and party on! This is the side of Joe I've waited a long time for. A few friends that used to be Bona-who's have called or texted to make sure I knew this was coming up, uh thanks, I heard a l'il sumpin' about it somewhere.
Think Acoustic,

All in all an excellent effort. Nice to hear some of the "electrified" tunes done acoustically. As the show closed I did notice as the camera panned the audience a bald man snapping some pix.....G Dawg, captured!

..... Bet it was great to be there live
Meet and greet, two tickets in the first 4 rows at Valley View in San Diego. $1200!
Great show and good press for Joe. One announcer had it pretty down as she described the show. The next guy had no clue and mixed up RAH and Vienna often.
Rick
Visited my parents yesterday and asked if they watched the show. My mom (age 78) lit up and said, “Oh yeah, I really liked that train song!” Pops (age 79) launched into the ways to tune an accordion and made some other comments. But I think he liked it.

I see what you did there, Rocket...
Just saw the show on PBS. Great job! Wish they played the whole thing, especially John Henry & Sloe Gin, but will get the chance as soon as my BluRay order arrives in the mail. Still hard to beat the electric versions, but a nice change of pace & always great to hear new versions.
