I've honestly been disappointed the last few times I've seen him. He seemed unable to get through a song without stoping to play and rambling off into disjointed stories.  He's a treasure, of that I would never doubt. But the last time in Red Bank he was a disappointed.  Hope you enjoyed it,

Alan

While there was some of that going on, It was still nice to see the guy finally play. I had met him when I was 12 and never got around to see him play. Now, at 35 I finally was able to. There were stories and lengthy band intros, but at 87 he's earned the right to do whatever he wants IMO. He truly is a treasure.

Good.  I've seen him a number of times and he may have been having a bad night at that show

He has had some health issues with diabetes I think. He does tend to ramble and not play much, but that's his schtick nowadays and the fans still flock to see him. He's a class act, a living legend and his backup band is good. Don't go in expecting to see the man or music of his youth and you will be glad you did.

Agreed - maybe I should have done more research before I saw him last but had seen him a few times and wasn't prepared.

Don't feel bad. The last time I saw him he forgot the lyrics to The Thrill is Gone in the middle of the song which tossed the band into a tizzy trying to cover the gap. Respect is what he gets from me regardless. Ask Joe what he thinks and he'd say the same.

BB King and Peter Green are two of my favourite players...don't get me wrong...but would I see them live today?

There's just something that I would like to keep a certain way in the memory banks...thank you very much.
