Re: We Want Grooove

wow, I knew it was really good but this is outstanding for any group's first entry. Hard to believe, but my son likes it so much that he imported it to his Gran Turismo 5 video racing game. We ran around Nurburgring last night grooooving to the music, a lot better than the crap they loaded for you to listen to.

Thanks Chris. Nice to see a view from that direction. Renato is quite the wizard in that keyboard pit. I couldn't see much of either Ron or Tal from in front.

Thanks Rick, It is a different view that's for sure.  You can't see Tal's face but you can see his hands and great views of Joe when he's grooving with Renato.  Mike and Ron are in a few shots but not many.  As usual my vids don't compare to your stuff! smile

Re: We Want Grooove

I just got this CD in from Amazon, the last track #9 has at least a 1 minute long dead spot....is this how it is supposed to sound or did I get a bum CD??

That was mentioned earlier in this thread. I think it has about a 2 1/2 minute dead silent before the bonus track comes in around the 10 minute mark. Worth the wait!!!

I want to take a moment and highly recommend the recordings made at the "We Want Grooove" release parties at The Baked Potato last month by Phil.  Well Natasha's videos also, but the Tascam iPhone stereo mic and app worked so well for it's intent I am going to pick one up myself soon for sure!!! cool

Thanks Rocket, Phil got quite the smile on his face when he read this. He took your advice and actually had the mics turned towards the ceiling. That way it captured the front and also what bounced off the back wall. I feel they have a very full sound. It's too bad more people don't download from DIME, because anyone who liked the CD that was released would love to hear these live recordings. Would love to know what Tal and Joe thought of them, yet they are obviously busy with other things. In my own little dream world, Tal would get them, maybe tweak them a little, pick which versions he liked from the different nights and release it as a live CD smile

I agree. The pickup of Ron and Mike was very good compared to the audio on the vids. Dynamic range was also excellent. I think I might have to get an iphone and tascam rig myself. Time to become a smartphone user I guess... hmm

That was great Rick! You had such a good view there. That's the Heartbeat solo from 1/24/13. Second night second set. I have it by itself also.

I think that was the time the song sounded like it had ended because everyone clapped like it was over and then Tal and Joe kept going and Joe finished with his solo. That was an amazing solo! One of my favorites of that night and there were many that night.

I can Guarantee Tal, Joe, Ron, Mike and Neto ALL would enjoy them.....and there would be a degree of cringe from at least one of those guys who did not like what they just heard of themselves at SOME..  roll lol

But, that happens even with professional recording releases for artists from time to time as well, although I am not specifically referring to these Rock Candy Funk Party roster members and their professional recordings, just general historical recording industry copy in the past.  Far back, and not so far back...  "I disavow that record!!!" tongue

I'll smile to the sweet dreaming, not impossible I suppose, not likely either though.  And honestly, they don't need any tweaking.

Thanks for the memory jog. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out where that extra track fit in. It is the extension where the song kind of petered out and seemed done, then Joe picked it up. We all had stopped shooting and, oops, restarted when he took off. I used my mini tripod as a hand extension to get that low angle shot over the table towards the end of that amazing solo.

Re: We Want Grooove

Well, Phil just uploaded the final Rock Candy onto DIME. The second set of the second night. In my opinion the best of them all. Joe was just going off on that last set. His solos on Ode to Gee, Heartbeat, and Root Down were absolutely mind blowing. Dope on a Rope had that wonderful interplay between Ron and Joe, and the "hyperspeed"  Crossroads had that fun introduction by Joe.

It kind of amazes me that only about 70 people take these off of Dime, considering there are thousands that watch the youtube videos. People are missing out on some amazing live audio recordings.

Thanks to Joe, Tal, Ron, Mike and Renato for two nights of amazing music. Joe, I am so glad you and Tal liked these recordings. It made the whole experience even that much more special for Phil and I.  Thanks Jim.
