Topic: Hello from Norway
I am a 61 y old norwegian man. Been playing gutar since 1963. Mainly acoustic the first years, then electric guitar after hearing Jimi Hendrix on Radio Luxemburg a late night in 1966. Well, electric guitar. I got a cheap pickup in the soundhole of my Eko guitar which from my sister for about 2$ and a scarf. I had a tape recorder which served as amp. Wonderful distortion.
Hendrix had a big influence on my playing for many, many years. After I discovered SRV in the early 80's, I got myself a Strat and played more and more blues, mostly jamming with friends. Kids, family and work kept me from playing as much as I wanted.
Now the kids are on their own, both musicans. I am retirered and and got new inspiration after I discovered Joe Bonamassa 5 years ago. Finally somebody was taking the blues to a new and contemporary direction.
So now I have started a band again and use Joe as an inspiration for my playing. Also got my hand on some new guitars. As a fan of japanese handcraft it had to be Tokai (MIJ). I like to modify my guitars for my needs and abusing a customshop Fender or Gibson feels not right. By the way, theese guitars are as good as Gibson standard series. And no resonance chambers or weight relief. Just high quality solid wood! By the way, my favourite Strat is a Squier 1983 (Japan vintage).
Looking forward to chat with other fans.
