Topic: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Sorry, but for me it has to be Peter Green at Leamington Spa Assembly, about 2 years ago.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Would have to be a Hole concert I attended several years ago. The band was good until Courtney went off the deep end. Suddenly you could hear the guitar she was “playing” and let me tell you, that girl cannot play guitar. At least not from what I heard. Then she proceeded to repeatedly insult the mature members of the crowd and all I could think was Who do you think is paying for all these teens to buy your records and be at your show? As if that wasn’t enough, she then began hauling all the teens up on the stage. Oh, and she was literally climbing up the side wall of the venue at one point. What a disaster.

Greg Lake tour with Gary Moore on lead guitar in the early 80's,They played 1 set of 45-50 minutes...that's all  they did..:(
(Actually was the shortest set ever in my life)

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul.... If you are going to spout off on politics make sure you have an audience that are interested. And an outdoor gig where the crowd are armed with drink and food might not be the safest place to pi55 people off. It was the apple exploding on the drum kit that was the clue.

A Van Halen show at Nassau Coliseum in the late 1980's - and I LIKE Van Halen.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Not so much a gig, but an artist. We went to a music festival in Duluth, MN back around the 4th of July in 2006 where Walter Trout and Foghat were on the bill. For some reason they booked washed-up rapper Tone Loc to appear as well, thankfully earlier in the afternoon. Never seen anything so dreadful in all my life. Not only did he completely stink, he began to insult the non-respnsive crowd throwing out f-bombs left and right. As I recall, the promoter pulled the plug early saving us from any more misery.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Stephen Stills. He was a mess...he had a major attitude and would completely stop in the middle of a song and kick his amps and his gear.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Can't say I've ever been to a bad gig although, I did get punched (No, not tapped, punched!) in the back for taking pictures at the start of the fourth song at a Grace Potter and the Nocturnals' show. Apparently, they deemed me as a "professional photographer" because my strap says "Canon" on it. All the while, a guy from Seattle standing right next to me, was recording HD video on a smaller camera. That's the closest I came to terminating someone with extreme prejudice realizing that if I did, several other Neanderthals would have pounced on me. Very disappointing and I have to say, I haven't seen Grace and her Band since.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Bob Dylan 1991 at Painters Mill, MD. He was so stoned or drunk on this occassion, that he could barely stand up, he forgot most of the lyrics and the words that he did remember were absolutely indecipherable. The sound was atrocious as well. Absolute waste of money.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Van Halen in the early 80's. I never even got to see the show, the opening band played then during the intermission a security guard bumped into my ciggy and burned him, he accused me of burning him cause he was black, I told him I didn't care if he was blaze orange he walked into my ciggy. Next thing I know there is about 4 cops coming to arrest me, they cuffed me then all hell broke loose people started throwing stuff at the cops, of course they used me as a shield, by the time they got me outside it was almost a full scale riot, people throwing rocks and beer cans and bottles at the cops carrying me out, them still using me as a shield. Finally got to the police station, got charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot, then had to call my parents to come get me as I was a minor, so they had to drive an hour and a half to come get me, quiet ride home.

Molly Hatchet at the Cotati Caberet (small club) in the '90's. Singer Danny Joe Brown sounded absolutely awful and complained that he was sick while chain smoking cigaretts and doing whiskey shots......RIP Danny Joe.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Hmmm maybe Bob Dylan a few years ago. He sounded like an angry gremlin. A close second would be Jack White last summer. He plays with 2 bands (an all girl band or an all guy band) and the all guy band was bad. The sound was horrible and the playing was lackluster. I saw him a few months earlier with the girl band and they were phenomenal. Could've just been an off night the second time.

Forget the year (mid 90s?), but Starship and Tom Petty.  I was bored to death.  No energy to the music, just going through the motions.

Re: What is the worst gig you have ever been to?

Bluesapalooza in Mammoth 4 years ago. We had a big rented condo shared with 3 other couples. Around midnight a big tour bus pulls up, parks on the street right by our place and lights off the generator. about 3 am one of the locals calls the cops. Turns out it was headliner Johnny Lang's bus. He slept in peace as well as the rest of us when the police advised him to shut it off or be arrested. Next night he comes on and puts out the worst music I've heard in years. Screeching unintelligible vocals and songs that needed to end and didn't. The eight of us walked out after the 4th song in disgust, realizing it wasn't going to get better. I'll never pay to see him again.

Van Halen reunion tour in DC Nov 2007 - awful sound!  For me, they'd definitely jumped the shark.
