Re: Wild Wood Guitars has a JB Standard model for sale.
Yeah I posted something like this a few days ago from the music zoo. They have the JB Duncan pickups in them, which is cool. I saw a tweet a couple of weeks ago from Joe that he was trying them out.

Interesting,
That sounds like they're having a hard time selling all 1959 copies of the pickup and what better way to "unload" them is to install them into a guitar and sell the guitar.
(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

So basically, its a $3,500 LP Standard with souped up pickups..?

With no topwrap and no three nylon saddles on the bridge...

That would be an extra $500 please for the bridge Wrap and nylon saddles.

You can pick up a new 2013 Gibson Custom Shop 57 Goldtop for pretty much the same price. R8's too! I've been reading that the new pickups are pretty amazing as is the new finishes. I guess it all depends upon what the player wants and can afford. It's nice to have variety to choose from. But just reading reviews isn't always the best way to make a purchase decision. Get out and play a few and then make your choice. With money being tight these days, choose wisely. Then play the snot out of that guitar! JMHO.
Stay Safe Y'all!

Yeah thats what I mean! A regular Standard is the same exact guitar as the current JB Goldtop. Only difference I can see is this comes with a black back and Seymour Duncans. Oh and Grovers.. And Spider is right about the R7/8s. Seems odd that this particular guitar is priced like it is? I would expect it to at least come with the ABR, 50s wiring kit with Bumblebees and nylons for the added $$. I guess the sunglasses and stuff up the price. But I suppose if you want a JB goldtop and since the original run is long gone, you gotta do what you gotta do to get the guitar you want.
Re: Wild Wood Guitars has a JB Standard model for sale.
Thanks for the Wildwood link.
How can that thing be chambered wieighing in at 9 pounds? Most chambered wieghin between 7.5 and 8 pounds. It can't be chambered at that weight.
These things are moving slow.... I am a huge fan and all, but no way is a USA standard worth that money. I played one... its very nice, has great tone, but for that money I'll go to the custom shop. Its just not a $3500+ guitar.
Re: Wild Wood Guitars has a JB Standard model for sale.
Not chambered, weight relief. They drill about 9 holes in the body under the maple cap. Gibson has done this since 1980 when they moved to Nashville. Its just a place on the body that has 1/2" holes drilled in it about were your arm rests on the guitar. A Les Paul Standard however since 2008 is more like a hollow body guitar these days. Traditional Les Paul's are like they've been making it since the 80's to now. http://napervillemusic.wordpress.com/20 … les-pauls/ The new Standards have a little more meat in them but not much.
