Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Sorry now I wish it was a joke. I was trying to do my own thing with a song and thought is the point of this contest. I thought it was alright and people like my blues. I have been in the top ten for my blues music and for other styles I do on Soundcloud. I was exploring some ideas. If it sounds like a joke then well I guess maybe I need to try again. I plan on entering this thing. I guess I could take that as it is just not a good enough attempt. Maybe I don't understand the contest or Joe's music, but I am going to keep trying anyway.

Sorry if this was offensive or seemed like I was joking to you. Was not my intention, no worries I don't feel bad about it. I have been performing my music and have had thousands of downloads of my songs. I guess  maybe this one is just to strange for here. I was looking for actual feedback on the song. Oh well my feelings aren't hurt. All the best to you Helrazr and Steve.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Sorry again I hope people didn't think I was making fun of this contest. This is a something in another style. I never played to backing tracks before so I am trying to figure out what to do and was the reason I posted that attempt here. Laughing that I was so entirely off that people thought it was a joke. No worries I will most likely not post ideas or sketches here anymore. Just thought it would be a place to find some encouragement and feedback on what I might enter. I feel bad that people thought I was joking about this contest. I am taking it pretty seriously. I might try more of a slow downed blues style with this song. Like this one called "Lucky Neon Blues". I don't tend to do mainstream sounding stuff so I guess that might really hurt me in this. All the best.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Thanks Steve and Helrazr I needed to know I was completed in left field with this so it was good I posted it here and I received your feedback. Gives me a good idea that I might need to try this over again and in a way different approach to the songs. I really want to say thanks for just taking the time to look at the video for the song. It was the feedback I needed and I don't think it was unkind or anything I was just way to off in a strange place with this song. Going back to the drawing board and trying again. Sincerely, Donnie

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

I'd love to set up a separate channel for international players and others who might not want to enter the contest per se.  Would be great to see everyone's take and interpretations on these great backing tracks.

NOTE: There is a broken link in the page mentioned above.  The link to the Guitar Centre website has not been formatted properly, and it is causing a 404 error when clicked (in my Chrome browser).

Devan - separate of the contest, couldn't you download the tracks and post videos of you playing to them? I agree that the contest should be more inclusive (I think it isn't because of the associated costs of flying people in from all areas), but it's a start. Maybe enough interest will have them reevaluate for the next one.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

This is one occasion where being a UK resident relly falls down and hits me on the head. I like it here but nothing ever happens here.

Still, good luck to all you lucky americans who will enter. At least we've got a proper 'Happier Times' backing track out of this.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Are there Guitar Centers outside of the US? You'd think if there is, some contests would be worldwide. But probably given the recent financial state of the company, there could be limits on things. Devan, would be cool to have a Guitar Center page or something like you said. Even if those people don't want to necessarily enter a contest. Can obviously post and search Youtube for peoples videos but to group them all together somehow would be a cool idea.

Hi Everyone.,

I feel really nervous posting this here. I have been playing electric guitar for about there years. I hope to enter this contest. Was looking for feedback if this was a strong enough attempt. My style might not be for everyone its pretty much like a 60s psyche sound. I like the crazy sort of sounds a guitar can make. Just wondering what you think of this attempt at the contest. I might try some more again if I have the time.

I played to Blue and Evil and adopted one of my original songs to the track. I go by Ok, Enough these days. Sort of worried sharing this here but figure I might be going with this song as my entry for the contest. Just looking for some thoughts on it if you have a moment to check it out I'd really appreciate it. Not sure if the ending will disqualify me or not I say Hell at the end.

All the best,

Guitar Center sadly is strictly a US store chain. We have some smaller music store chains in the UK like Musicroom or GuitarGuitar, but not as monumental as Guitar Center. But if you live near a GuitarGuitar store in the UK they're pretty stunning nonetheless.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Greetings Gang.....

So, downloaded the tracks and been having a blast jamming to them......put together a little video, not sure will enter, but had fun nonetheless.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDPAb2fc … ture=share

In the video, the GOLDIE collection is featured:  Strat / Tele / Morse Musicman ( GOLDIE-dized )

And in the Happier Times clip, the GOLDIE Flanger was used......only ( 2 ) of these pedals exist, and Joe has the other one, lol......silly I know....but fun!!!

The good news is, the next build is a replica of Joe's Clapton strat used in the ANDY dvd......enough of the gold for now!!!!

Enjoy the slopfest.....

Nice collection of guitars and nice playing. Your solo on Dust Bowl had a middle eastern type of feel.

Jay, I really enjoyed this.  You have to enter!  Why not??

Beautiful rainbow of guitars in the background too.

Re: Guitar Center Blues Masters featuring Joe Bonamassa Contest

Thanks for kind words......the DUST BOWL solo, the last couple years, live Joe has thrown in this open string lick playing that starts the solo and gives it a different vibe and the soloing is very inspiring for me....so this was my way of taking that concept and changing a little.

Think the "eastern" feel thing kind of works here???
