Topic: Vintage Trouble To Support The Who On European Quadrophenia Tour!

Vintage Trouble will be supporting The Who on their European Quadrophenia tour this summer. Fantastic news. I will be at the 02 Arena on June 15th, and what a bonus to get such a good support act. I've yet to see Vintage Trouble live, but love the 'Bomb Shelter Sessions' very much, one of the best albums of last few years in my opinion. Great news that I though I'd share with all here on the chance, anyone else will be going to see The Who. If so definitely check these guys out before hand and go see them on the night.

I saw them open for The Who (or the two, if you will) a couple of weeks ago and they weren't bad. I remembered that they were the band on the Supercuts commercials after seeing a giant Supercuts logo on their bus. The Who were actually pretty good as well. I saw them about 4 years ago and it was just an ok show. They were on top of their game this time around. The incorporation of John and Keith into the show was very cool.

As I mentioned in my post last week check VT's schedule if the Who tour is in your area as they are doing club gigs on off nights. You'll save a whole lotta money. They tore it up on Conan last night with Booker T. Jones sittin' in on the B3.

Re: Vintage Trouble To Support The Who On European Quadrophenia Tour!

Saw them with the Who last night and Steve is a master of understatement with "not bad".  They were a very  fitting opening act for me becaue the first time I saw the Who was on a Dick Clark or Murray the K "Caravan" that mixed the girl bands, the British bands, and Stax all stars in a Rock n Soul style revue. Vintage Trouble fits squarely into that groove, with a very charismatic and talented lead singer/dancer (Denzel in his 20s with sideburns), and all of the band members dress the part.  They were a boatload of fun, and got the crowd very warmed up for the Who. I'll definitely be looking out for them.

I thought the Who were on top of their game as well. The tour has gotten very solid reviews but I was still unprepared for how much energy they still manage to bring. The last time I saw them was '88 or so and didnt think they were nearly as good then as last night. Had great seats, 4th row right in front of Pete and I dont think I sat for more than 3 minutes of the show (highly unusual for me!). Quadrophenia is almost an entire album of anthems and they rocked on all of them. The standards in the non-Quad set were flawless and high energy as well. The only thing missing from making it a perfect night was "Eminence Front" my personal all time favorite, but it really didnt fit the style of the rest of the show, so Im not complaining too loudly!

I really want to see them as a good hour and a half by themselves...
They are killer.

(Should link to a Letterman appearance, if not search for "Blues Hand Me Down")

Check out their June schedule, lots of open nights on The Who European tour dates, perhaps they are booking some club gigs then as well.

I will be keeping an eye out for Vintage Trouble doing their own show on an 'off' night. However it's not a question of saving money, The Who are well worth the price, it's in this case a superb bonus, that on top of going to see The Who, you get such a good support act.
