Re: We Want Grooove

I am the turtle still stuck at the opening night early set. neutral  Must be that spell that sorceress put on me!

Anyway, roll , here's the first rendition of Return To Forever's "Sorceress".  There's a few rough spots, but Joe tears up again.  Mike has an interesting solo getting down to the baseline of the building cool

Re: We Want Grooove

Ode to Gee - Gee whiz. All round great fun and excellent interplay. Joe's licks and Renato's keys take the cake. Tal has excelled; De Jesus and Merritt kick in serious stuff as well. This number really emphasizes how each band member contributes so well and 'ups' the rest of the game. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, and commercially, who knows, given what people listen to these days? For me personally (and I'm sure I speak for a few others on the forum as well), I'll take as much as I can get. Hit it!!!! Flood it!!!!!

Another great relaxer - grab a glass of great wine and wind down to The Best Ten Minutes Of Your Life.

Tal, once again, thank you, toda raba, danke, shukriya, merci beaucoup!!! Give us more!!! Well put on the DVD - "we're five guys with egos, but good egos". Well, notch the egos up another level and head to the studios soon!!!

Now....any chance this set can be made available to crazy music buffs in multichannel SACD or DVD-A format? (I know...commercially, the cost to benefit ratio may not be great, or even at break-even point). The original CD appears well mastered. Yeah, I can convert it to surround using some DSP (Dolby Prologic II, etc) mode on my HT, but rather than apply some artificial processing, would like to listen to it as it was intended. There are some great hi-res surround sets available in similar genres (Miles Davis - Tutu, George Benson - Breezing, are just a couple that come to mind) just wondering. Otherwise I'll just do my own using the VI plugin for VST or Foobar2000 smile

Tlhank God the laptop survived.  you did a great job Rick.  I almost feel like I was there.  Still jealous of Helen and Natasha's moment with the candle.  These videos are so nice.  Thank you , thank you and mostly thank you to Joe, Tal, Renato, Ron and Mike.  Excellent  work for those non professionsals  smile

Re: We Want Grooove

finally got my CD yesterday, and wow is this a good one. I hear so many different artists styles - Crusaders without horns, Steely Dan, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Return to Forever, Eddie Hazel, Lee Ritenour etc. The keyboard player Renato is amazing, but so is Mike Merritt and the 2 of them really make the recording come to life. I only got one listen in last night, it is superb all around.

As corn through a goose, so are the days of our lives

Really loving all the vids you all are putting up from the cd release weekend shows. Can't get enough of this stuff. On another note, I was glad to see FYE in Albany, NY had 6 copies of the cd in store with a RCFP bin card they made up in front of the Joe B section.

No wonder. It has rocketed to the top of the jazz charts. #3 Amazon and #2 Itunes! Congrats to Producer Tal and the band for their first big hit in the genre. I pray there will be more!

I'm loving "We Want Groove."  Great stuff Joe.  Keep following your muse wherever it takes you.

Re: We Want Grooove

After uploading all these different videos and also looking at Rick's, I just marvel at the capabilities of the little panasonic lumix cameras.  He and I have nearly identical cameras. (DMC-ZS19 or 20) It just amazes me the technology that exists today. This camera is so small it can fit in your pocket, yet it has the capabiltiy of recording HD video with pretty decent sound quality. The lighting was of such poor quality in that venue, (basically filming by candle light) yet the cameras were able to capture the preformers so that we can see them adequately. I have a cannon digital SLR that just sits collecting dust because it is just too cumbersome to carry around and the picture quality isn't really any better than the panasonic. I don't always embrace new technology, but I must say the advancements in cameras have definitely won me over. So here is the version of Crossroads I captured on the first night. I always enjoy Joe's introductions.

Plus 1 on that camera. Just make sure it has the cmos sensor. The other sensor is terrible in low light conditions. I even tried the new feature of snapping off stills while shooting video simultaneously with pretty good results. Great vid Natasha.

Thanks. You have a lot of great ones, too. I get such a kick out of watching the view numbers increase. For a while I couldn't figure out why the "Ode To Gee" I did had so many views, then I saw someone posted it on the les paul forum site. Whoo Hoo! There are links to yours and Rockets channels there as well. It's nice to see people are excited by the music and want to share it with everyone.
