Topic: All the Way From Memphis

Yeah....listening to the Hoople classic as I type.  Left snowy Evansville to cometo go to Beale St.  Low 50s and sunshine feels good.   Plan to see as much as possible and Mitzi is like a little girl ready for her buddy Boscoe.  More drunken posts to come.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

very cool, hope you all have a great time of it. Try to hit the Gibson store, or is it a plant ?? It's right across the street from the Fed-X Forum somewheres down Beale way. BB's has a good house band with Patrick Dodson and his guys.

well, looks like Patrick may not be there any longer, it's some guy name Will and the BB King Allstars. very intimate little place with pretty good food as I recall.

As corn through a goose, so are the days of our lives

Re: All the Way From Memphis

That's where we are heading.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

Please check out Nothin But Trouble, in Alfred's, if they advance. That's my brother-in-law's band. Couldn't afford to go this year, but it is SO much fun. Also, try to catch the Youth Showcase. I know Tallan Latz is there. Have fun and good luck to Boscoe. I'm following his posts on fb.   Cathy

I hope the pair of you have a grand time, and please take Cathy's advice and try and catch NBT!

Re: All the Way From Memphis

I missed Cathy's band, but hope they advance.  I must of died and gone to heaven.  A lot of great bands.  Will report tomorrow if I can remember.  This thing is better than I thought it'd be.

Have a Sazerac on me /for me..... or is that more N'Orleans?

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...

Re: All the Way From Memphis

Have a great time...wish I was partying down there this weekend

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: All the Way From Memphis

Curby, so jealous, would love to see Boscoe play at such great venue's.  If you are alert enough, take some video of the great bands playing. Keep us updated.  It is 10 degrees here in Owensboro this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 50 degrees soundfs so good.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

What a great time last night.  Boscoe advanced, but Nothing But Trouble didn't make it.  I was real impressed with Brooks Mason of Georgia Flood.  Just 16, but talented beyond his years.  Was surprised they didn't make it either.  The only other band we saw that made the semifinals was Boscoe's friend Rickey Godfrey.  RG reminded me of Bryan Lee.  When we left it was snowing (flurries) and it will be cool here today too.

Blues Sissi - What band were you telling me to see?

Re: All the Way From Memphis

The MN Blues Society band entrant has moved on - Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders. If you get a chance Curby, check them out. Alex "Crankshaft" Larson is the band leader, often times performing as a one-man band, but not in Memphis. He's a real hoot and a real talent.

Thanks for the update Curby.  So glad he advanced.  Boscoe posted on Facebook how happy he waS.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

Hillbillys rule! They got a buncha blues in their blood. (I have a bunch in the family tree) Sounds like a blast and stay warm. That is a big chill in the midwest.

Tommy Schneller & Jens Filser. Tommy is a great say guy and Jens one of our top German guitar players.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

I looked and didn't see Tommy or Jens playing here.  I will check out Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders.  They're playing at Alfred's.  There's a 1 in 5 chance to make the finals.  I like Boscoe's chances tonight, but the finals will be tough competition.

Re: All the Way From Memphis

One band I plan to see tonight is Meena Cryle and Chris Fillmore Band.
