Topic: New Dunlop JB and mini fuzz faces for 2013

Hey guys, was just checking out the Dunlop site and found these. Being released in Febuary 2013

The JB fuzz doesn't seem to be mini but has a new Black gloss finish which is limited to 2000 units in 2013

These look pretty cool I rekon, anyone who likes a fuzz face look but hates the size, has a battery door, LED, reverse jacks (around the right way).

Fuzz face distortion? Interesting. Thinking it won't be as tame as the original.

Small &  mighty.....space savers !!!!!!

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: New Dunlop JB and mini fuzz faces for 2013

Honestly its about time they made it smaller, and now with a DC adapter!  How many times have we heard on the forum I wished they would put a outlet plug on a Fuzz Face pedal?  I know they are wanting to keep the original shape in all but I wished they made them in a square box like other pedals.  Round is going to take up a lot of space still.  But I'm interested.

Yes but there is still a big group of people that believe the best sound from the Dunlop Fuzz was with the use of the old carbon batteries.

something to do with the fall of power that effected the circuit.

Which is even supported on a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power - so give me a stinking DC adaptor plug for crying out loud! smile

Can we get an Amen?  The theory with the starving batteries is all Eric Johnson's fault.  He said on a Youtube interview once that it was basically something he told somebody sometime because people were always asking him questions, next thing you know its one of the most sought after tricks around to do with your Fuzz pedal.  He also said he liked to use rubber bands to wrap around the Fuzz Face because the Metal screw messes with the tone of the pedal as well...  I call Bullshit.  Hey you can get a Big Muff pedal now that has a feature built into it to starve the Transistors in their pedal.

Exactly. If you want to mess around with batteries, then fine. Can also make the argument that if you don't like that the fuzz face does not supposed a DC plug output for power, then get another pedal but I don't think that many people are staunch battery power users anymore. And maybe tones change with screws or batteries or DC power but no way in hell can you hear that when playing with a band. But to each their own. I personally think its time they make these with a DC plug, at least for production models. Artist models I can see if the artist dictates one way or another.

I dunno if I'd call bull. There's a thin line between genius and crazy, and I think he's standing on top of it. I've seen him twice and his in-concert tone was fantastic. He's also a really humble dude. Nevertheless, adapters are cheaper in the long run.

No doubt that EJ is one of the greatest guitarist from the 80's and his tone is awesome live or not.  I'm just saying guitarist are all the time trying to squeeze out the most out of their gear and they make claims of the tiny tweaks but in the end unless your talking about a recorded sound that is isolated when recorded its not going to show up.  I bet stock fuzz pedals would sound just as good as his own personal fuzz as long as Eric Johnson is playing it.
