Is Joe really coming to New Zealand in October? Could somebody confirm this please?

Welcome SRVblues. I can't confirm, but where did you hear this info ?
You may have noticed, at present only 2 dates marked down for October so far. Maybe Joe's road manager will be able to enlighten, he chips in here with tour info from time to time!

Welcome SRVblues! Alas, the road manager to whom Brack refers is no longer with Joe, and the new one is not (yet) a member of the forum, so we'll have to try and find out by other means. I suggest that you keep checking back here because IF there are any further antipodean shows to come, they'll be reported here in the forum before they appear on the tour page.

Help!  I am relatively new to the Forum and just discovered word about Joe's cover article in Classic Rock mag Issue #167 Feb. 2012 "No Hits, No Hype, so how did he get so huge?"  I'm dying to get a copy, but when I e-mailed the mag they said it's too old.  Anyone have any ideas?  Or any chance I could beg and at least get a copy of the article from someone who was lucky enough to secure this issue?  Many thanks for any advice out there!

Re: **Exclusive** Classic Rock Magazine No. 167

Hey Jamesdenny50.I never got that gut reaction when I read the article.Maybe knowing its been a long hard road for them to get this point financially, and its a bit of a jab at the "industry".I think it normal to want to be rich and sucessful.I think the difference is in how you get there.I haven't seen Joe artistically compromise his music,or. Take advantage of his fans.Ticket ptices are higher now,but in line with the venues he playing in.He sells a lot of merch because there is a market.I don't know Roy,but he has been with Joe when money was tight.I say go for what you can while you can.I don't know if we as fans can understand how long and hard they have worked to be successful.I think if you look at that statement from that perpective it may soften your stance.
I don't belive in greed either. So when I saw your comment it did give me pause becsuse I can see where you could feel that way from that quote.Again I have never got that vibe from Joes team that their money making was anything above and beyond what any business strives for.

I think that Roy was just being sarcastic. No harm.

Roy was being seriously sarcastic.  Not only that, anyone who cannot see that Roy Weisman is a huge and sincere fan of Joe Bonamassa........certainly is also no douce bag themselves...otherwise it would take one to know one. wink. I have no idea what one is, I just know I am not! tongue

Take the comment for what it was!  A stab at old promotional tactics!  If anyone needs clarification, I'd gladly take a stab with my interpretation!  wink

Re: **Exclusive** Classic Rock Magazine No. 167

Your  opinion JamesDenny50. Categorizing on what you think and not looking at reality is a flaw. Roy's the scion of a respected management family who represent the best in the entertainment industry with integrity. If fans are being driven away, why are all the shows selling out well in advance? Joe paid dues for 20 years to get where he is. More power and income to him in every way is what I think.
Not much else to be said IMO.

Re: **Exclusive** Classic Rock Magazine No. 167

Why so bitter? Almost seems personal.  Is a slur next in line?! Roy is an adaptive genius, brutally honest if the situation requires it for whatever "business" reason, but I have found him to be only a gentleman, scholar, congenial genius of a hard-nosed, friendly guy.  Grateful Joe is Fortunate.

Re: **Exclusive** Classic Rock Magazine No. 167

I think it's fair to say Rocket, that JamesDenny50's comment is probably borne out of the same frustration that many of us felt when the £1500 VIP ticket went on sale - Potentially locking out all the best seats. It would appear that the "offer" of all the "bolt ons" was not sufficient for it to be taken up in sufficient numbers to fill the Borderline, which is why the tickets for that venue are now being offered at £500 and blocks of seats are being sold at the other venues. It is indeed unfortunate that many big Joe fans were "turned off" by the original expensive offer and still see £500 as being well over the top. As far as Roy's comments in Classic Rock, he is entitled to say what he likes I suppose and it's my guess he has taken some stick for it. Roy "manages" the operation as far as I know, allowing Joe to concentrate on the actual shows and the music. I am not alone here in believing that Joe deserves every plaudit and dollar that he earns, jeez, he has toiled a long and hard road to get to where he is now. My own feeling is that J&R missed a great opportunity to say a big "thank you" to the fans, by zeroing in on the Borderline gig as a true fan show, with the limited number of tickets drawn out of some form of lottery organised on this forum. If fans were travelling in from afar, the chance of a ticket would be enough motivation to get them to buy tickets to the other shows. The Borderline gig will still be some show - just imagine it with a crowd made up from all this lot on here! Just my three penneth - I'm unlucky with Lotteries, so I'll just make do with seeing you all at the RAH - Thanks to Wooders!

Re: **Exclusive** Classic Rock Magazine No. 167

I am kind of confused why this quote was brought to the top after it has lain dormant for a year. Hmm, to get people worked up about something, perhaps? Who knows. It seems to me that Roy is acting like I would expect him to act, albeit his word choice is somewhat crude (maybe that's why Joe is the one who usually does the interviews) They are partners in the music industry business. I would think their goal is to make millions someday. You wouldn't want your manager to be like "I'm going to make you dirt poor, kid. You're going to live in a slum and only play seedy bars." I don't know either one of them, but from what I've read, they seem to complement each other (yin and yang). Joe is the talent and the face, and Roy is the business and money. They have been together a long time and if Joe wasn't comfortable with the relationship, I would think he would do something about it. It is Joe's life, and it seems to be going pretty good so far.
