I saw them for the first time in Sept 2006 when the opened for Los Lobos in Charlottesvillel,VA. I had never heard of them and was very surprised when they started to play. I purchased there first CD after the show and have been a fan ever since. I saw them for the fourth time last year and they had a full band with them.

Re: Rodrigoy/Gabriela holy guacamole!

Yeah i've seen them 7 times now, first time in 2007 at the Lowlands Festival 2007, and most recently in 2012 at the Old Vic Tunnels in London for the The Day of The Dead celebrations, in which me and my girlfriend were fortunate enough to end up at the very front of the tiny stage and observe their capabilities up close and personal. They were on this occasion also joined by Phil Manzanera for a track, and the show was filmed, hopefully to be released. They are never disappointing, if even a tad repetitive. Would recommend a live show by these guys to one and all, so much energy. If you're interested '11:11' is their best album, and the first 2 tracks 'Hanuman' & 'Buster Voodoo' are the highlights of this album.
Also they are Mexican, but their backing band for the Austin City Limits  show was C.U.B.A a 13 piece Cuban orchestra. This project they undertook was recorded in the studio as the album 'Area 52'.

Yes, really great duo! But I have not seen them live, only on DVD, "Live At Glastonbury" for example....

Re: Rodrigoy/Gabriela holy guacamole!

Have 2 or 3 of their albums, some extraordinary stuff. For a couple of years, they were regulars on Jools Holland's Hootenanny but seemd to have dropped off the radar. Hope to catch them, somewhere like Gateshead Sage sometime.

Rodrigo y Gabriela - yeah, just have the one cd - the one with the Croc Eye
They do a great job of 'Stairway to Heaven' on there.

Yeah, have the Croc's eye album as well as 11:11 and an older one called Re-Foc. See there was one released last year, Area 52 with C.U.B.A. as mentioned earlier; also 3 Live album, Japan 2011, France 2011 & Manchester(?) 2004.

The Live albums are very reasonably priced on Amazon(.co.uk) at the moment, anyone interested.
