Me too Gary! Using the template from Miles Davis is a cool approach. I sure like the snippets from the release and, though Joe says he is making a different sound and using small amps, it sure sounded like Joe in the previous gigs at the Spud with the vintage gear he brought then.

Really great interview!
Just in case you hadn't heard, there is no "Black Country Communion" tour. Steely Dan no tour dates either???!!! Say whaaa... The 3rd Black Country Communion release, "Afterglow " http://jbstore.jbonamassa.com/cd/bcc-afterglow-cd/ is still out making the rounds. :bump
The whole deal with Rock Candy Funk Party specifically and the Baked Potato in general is, top talent hanging on to something solid and hanging around at the same time. Egos are NOT pumped up with dangerously "explosive" Hindenburg hydrogen, they are pre-loaded with helium, for that high pitched cartoon voice FUN! And about fantastic music, let alone musicianship. Joe's sound is night and day different from theater, hall, or festival. It is small jazz club and small, well equipped "garage" studio sound all the way. If him not being turned up a 1/16 of a notch too high at times, you wouldn't be able to tell it was him much of the time, of course some soling notwithstanding recognition.
Regarding "We Want Miles", This was Rock Candy Funk Party jamming last year to their version of that album's opening track "Jean Pierre": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XbMwFoj1Sg You will notice a short nod to it in the title track of "We Want Groove". Did someone mention Marcus Miller? This features none other than Mike Merritt!!! He even resembles Miles' stance on the cover when he is doing his bass solo.
Rock Candy Funk Party is NOT 3-4 minute attention span pop music music...It is Lick Out The Jams MoFo's!
Rock ON & Gr ve, Stage Right, IN, Jazz UP the Faith,
Rocket
