Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

When I bought it I was really surprised that Adam would have a use for a Flying V.....  The reason that it needs to go to a new home is because it is too nice of a guitar to sit in storage.. Plus I am gearing up for London 2013 and getting a few more S type guitars for the 3 piece night....  Its a great guitar for anybody who ends up with it...  I am keeping the Holy V of course that guitar will be donated someday for a good cause...

Since this one is a 1982..I'm guessing it still has the Tim Shaw pickups in it as well?

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

You're right. I checked this morning and it was around $13.4K...and I thought it had another day to go.

Did a completed auction search and it didn't show up (it sometimes does take a moment after an auction to show.)

I had just cleared my History (thus the ebay page link) so I did a google search and found an ebay link posted in a Les Paul forum:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Joe-Bonamassas- … 7675.l2557

Looks like The Flying V auction was ended early by seller.  Hmmm.

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

Very very strange?!?  It was a 'No Reserve' auction...  Perhaps the bids weren't high enough for the seller?  $13K not enough?

Or perhaps they sold it in the store first?  Should be interesting to hear the back story...

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

When the time comes it will be explained to us.

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

Probably sold elsewhere so they ended the auction.

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

I don't know all that much about Ebay's rules. Maybe somebody that does can explain what happens if you sell it outside of the auction do you just pay the fees and no harm no foul.

I would guess that a buyer who wanted to make sure they got the guitar contacted the seller and agreed on a price and bought  it with out going through the complete auction and losing it by a a few dollars.

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

Yes you can end an auction at anytime. Maybe a small penalty, usually the seller will say in the listing they have it listed elsewhere. Sometimes you get direct offers to end the auction as per your second paragraph Jim.

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

Being that it is a music store, it may have been offered on site as well.  Nothing about local sale (and thus posibly ending early) in the description.

I see Holy Grail Guitars have a Facebook page and were touting it as a 7 day auction.  I think there were 40 some bids (some by same bidders.)  Ebay interest and bids helped get it going, so I think it is a little unfair to some bidders who were probably waiting to see it through with their final offer.  Life goes on... smile

Did notice an addition to the description added the day before it ended.
"Also, if it was not already clear, Joe is consigning this directly through us. The winner will be the next owner after Joe."

Re: Joe's Flying V for Sale

They might have ended the auction & took another offer...This way the seller did have to pay all of the Fees on Paypal /Ebay...happens all of the time.
