I'm currently wanting to play some modern christian contemporary music at my church maybe once a month and it has become very evident that the music requires a delay effect similar to something The Edge from U2 would do. I'm really thinking I want an analog cascading type delay, however I also hear that delays work best with a effects loop. I use a blues Jr amp so I really don't want to buy a new amp just so I have an effective delay pedal. I'm using the amp clean and using a distortion pedal for most of my tones. Does anybody have a good suggestion. I was thinking of an MXR Carbon Copy since that was THE it pedal when I started playing 13 years ago. If you think a digital pedal is better please explain why.
mad professor golden cello the only.delay I know of thay OS designed to.run into the front of your amp sounds amazing through my phaez amp with no fx loop
I tried several delay pedals and one of the only one I have tried that sounds ''real'' is the Carbon Copy. All the other ones sounded ''fake'' to me but, that's how I use a delay and it's a personal choice. I use the Carbon for ambience however, I use a DD3 or Line6 DL4 for slapback or anything else trippy. Best thing is to test them. I am fortunate enough to have a music store that has an 14day exchange policy. I took pedals home and tested them out and keep what I like.
Thats a real crazy cool board you have on your profile pic!

That's my ever changing board, lol! Once I am sure of what I will keep I will make a proper board finished in tweed.
if money/pedalboard real estate are not issues, the hughes and kettner replex is the best non-tape delay out there. you also get reverb. i sure as heck miss mine. regret selling it big time. I use the Alter Ego delay, love it... but the replex is king.
Real estate is the big problem. I've got a little home made board that I wanna keep using and a couple of the pedals I'm already using take up a lot of room. I like moving across the board in a line and not branch out in 2 rows since I'm already pretty bad with turning stuff off smoothly.
I use a tc flashback in front of a marshall class 5. It sounds great, especially on the tape setting. I just keep the repeats volume a little lower than usual to help it blend.
Hey there Dan, welcome to the Forum!
Go over to the "Introduction" section and tell us a little about yourself and how you came to hear about Joe!
Hope you'll stick around - you'll enjoy all the other gearheads here.
You should check out the Carl Martin Delayla, I love it for the Joe like delay in front of my Fender Blues Jr.
One of the better analogue delays, a sleeper although pricey
@AD3THREE, Real estate is the big problem? Why do you think so?
