Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

Call me biased, but after just playing Vols1 & 2, I'd add or make a category to include the Jock's Juke Joint albums to my list for the year.

Just a taste, but this song is off of one of my top five albums.  Renegade Creation's 2nd album, Bullet, is a huge improvement over their debut a couple years ago.  Great blues/rock mixed with a little fusion and something surprising as this song.  Reminds me of vintage Neil and is a laid back tune perfect for this holiday.

If I'd said that I'd be biased, but I think you have no worries on that score. Thanks

As for me, I've heard a lot this year ( including many of my previous favourite artists, whose latest release has not lived up to expectations) and my 3 favourites are:

The Shovel vs.The Howling Bones - Lincoln Durham
Royal Southern Brotherhood (Self Titled)
Ian Siegal - Candy Store Kid

Each is well worth checking out...

Looking at your new avatar, Jane: Is Celebration Day already on the list?

Candy Store Kid is also in my top five.  One of Ian's best and a great supporting cast.  RSB did not make my final five though and I have to check out Lincoln Durham.

Haven't picked that up yet, but it's been on my list for a while.  I've listened to a fair bit of their stuff on Youtube and it's great.  Given who's in the band, it'd be hard not to like.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

It's the last day of 2012 and time to pony up on my list.  Blackberry Smoke's The Whippoorwill is still my favorite, but it's not a blues album.  The best blues album is Gary Clark Jr's Blak and Blu.  Surprisingly I'm going to place The Temperance Movement's EP third as I've pretty much been listening to it nonstop since I got it.  Can't wait for their full album.  Absolutely every song on the cd is fantastic.  Other albums rounding out my favorites are Albert Cummings' No Regrets, Ian Siegal & the Mississippi Mudbloods Candy Store Kid, Renegade Creation's Bullet and another late comer, (and an about face from my earlier take on it), Tedeschi Trucks Band's Everybody's Talkin'.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

I looked back a way and didn't see Dismantle the Sun by Eric Steckles. This young man's music blows me away and he zoomed right up to the top list with the best. He played all the instruments on the cd as well. Killer B3 work on top of his stellar guitar playing and vocals. Disc available on CDBaby.
He'll be making waves.
