Topic: Traditional Pro II

I'm a proud owner of the original Traditional pro so I thought I'd check out the new features on the Pro II that came out earlier this year.  I must say I was blown away.  Why?  It wasn't that stupid 10 db boost circuit it had built into it although it was nice.  It was the coil taps.  But AD3 the one you already have has coil taps.  Yes it does, but the pots are push pull pots, the new one has push push pots!  It was so awesome.  My biggest complaint about coil splits and coil taps is the push pull pots are hard to get your fingers under.  I never really pull the pots while I'm playing its always before and after songs to get ready for the next tune that I would do that.  With the push push I can use my fist and hit the pot to activate the push push pot into either full humbucker or split.  And yeah the stupid 10 db boost does that too.  Check one of these out if your after a good Les Paul but afraid of the Standard sticker price.  These are still just under $2000 but I bet not for long.

Re: Traditional Pro II

The push push seems better than push pull. I know pulling the knob out can be difficult. Only positive I could say about the precious version is you know absolutely which mode the guitar is in without having to strum the thing. The used trad pros are nice to pick up used as they are priced well and you can still have some $ left over for upgrades.

Re: Traditional Pro II

Thats just it thought they push out and push in.  So its exactly like the original but you don't have to pull.  You can tell it the tap in activated or not without strumming!

Re: Traditional Pro II

Oh ok, I thought it was similar to a button that could be pushed down over and over again but sprung back upward a bit to its normal position.

Re: Traditional Pro II

i for one don't mind pulling up on the knobs on my Trad Pro, though I do see the merit in design of the new ones.  The one thing i don't like about the pull knobs is the feel of the travel on them when compared to normal pots.  oh well, can't have it all.

Re: Traditional Pro II

I can honestly say I won't trade in just to get push push pots, but I just think its a really good upgrade for the model.  Shame they don't do it on all their tapped guitars.
