Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Huge congrats to Coach Boeheim on his 900th win at Syracuse!!!  Dave Bing in attendance and in true fashion, Boeheim deflects congratulations to Dave, players and coaches and the great fans.  31 consecutive years of winning seasons.

Orange are currently over-ranked, again.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Good luck to all your teams in the seasonal tournaments. Aztecs are basking in Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic and this will tell the tale of how good they really are after a run of fodder teams. Arizona and Miami are in the opposite bracket. Tip-off against USF today and on to likely meet Ole Miss tomorrow. Top Aztec Franklin is suffering back spasms and is iffy for a lot of floor time. No cake walk for sure.

The Owls proved once again they are dangerous and not to be taken lightly. They knock off a ranked team pretty often.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

My Hoosiers have one more game before the Big Ten season begins.  We've lost two players for the rest of the season to injuries and something's going wrong with one of our freshmen.  On a better note one of other freshmen that missed the first nine games because of NCAA penalties had 10 rebounds in thirteen minutes last night.  Once he stops thinking ESPN highlight reel on offense he'll be a real contributor to our team.  The loss last week will be a blessing  long run and takes the pressure off.

Rick - Your Aztecs are for real and might be the best team on the west coast.  I've noticed they're a player in the recruiting wars too.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Depth in the Hoosiers bench will keep them going. Tough about the injuries Curby. I love this time of year. It's a feast on the tube with all the tournaments. Early to late it is all going on.  Aztec's Tapley had a career day against USF with a 33. That makes it 30 straight wins against California teams. Gonzaga is still a force out here and ranked Arizona may be playing SDSU on Christmas.

Let me know when they're playing.  Arizona is very good too.

Wow, what a game yesterday. We have a house full of guests and gathered around to watch the second half. My hubby and I are are both Temple grads, what a HUGE win for Temple!

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Ah, the old gang up on 'em trick!  What a house of cheats!  Just kidding of course, Angie, but I DID post they were over ranked.  Temple or Rutgers always the brunt of unofficial snickering by foolish Orange (fans, not team sanctioned-coaches DEFINITELY NOT) pride in football or basketball.

Incidentally, both Coach K and Bobby Knight lost first game after reaching the 900 win plateau also.

Curb, yeah SU got b-e-a-t, but JB's only 2 behind Bobby Dearest, 3 puts him past.  If SU is still ranked in the top 10, they'll still be ranked too high.  Their practices should be shooting free throws for hours and passing the ball around but not shooting...oh yeah, then they couldn't buy a bucket in a game. Over ranked.  For now.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

A big game looming this weekend between Louisville and Kentucky.  I might have to eat my words about Ryan Harrow as he's coming around.  This game will be close and can go either way and Harrow's play will decide the outcome against UL's press.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

I'm looking forward to that Louisville-Kentucky game Curby.
Only college ball on today is the three games from the Diamond Head Classic. Aztecs tipoff vs Arizona in the final at 6:30 PST. Pretty late for you back East, but perfect for me to unwind with a nice single malt after the Christmas feast with the kids' families. This should be a good one with Arizona's young bigs led by Xavier transfer Lyons against Aztec's veteran speed led by guards Franklin and Tapley. Both ranked with undefeated Arizona #3 and looking for revenge after losing at home in the last meeting. Go Aztecs!

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Still very early, but if the Aztecs settle down they'll win this game easily.  Arizona might finish 7th in the Big Ten and are looking the most over-rated team I've seen this year.

Was joking about The Cuse and disagree with Rocket about how good they are.  Easily a top five team in my humble opinion.  There's no dominant teams this year and look for a lot of upsets before a banner is hung in April.  IU is tough, but Zeller is nowhere playing like I expected and until he does my Hoosiers will drop a few in league play.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

Not much between them. Aztecs nipped and Az. got the win. Great game!

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

UK vs U of Louisviile this afternoon finally going to see if these young Cats have improved so hard to judge w/ the last several games being the smaller schools and easy wins for UK. Should be a good game and not expecting a win but sure would be nice! We are on a ship somewhere in the Caribbean between Curacao & San Juan and not likely the game will be airing on the ship but we do have ESPN we should be able to get the score and if I have any minutes available on the wifi package I purchased may be able to to catch part live streaming online??? I did set the dvr to record smile We did read Harrow had a great game against Marshall we were in the air on the way here & missed it sad  Hopefully he's getting his head together to be the point guard we need? We'll know here in a few hours!!!

I agree, Jim Boehem is one of the all time great coaches  and is deserving of the legend he's carved out of a little known program prior to his arrival.  It's funny, but I will always remember him for the game he got out-coached in the '87 National Championship against the guy he just passed on the list.  He got redemption later on and unlike Knight has been successful every year and without controversy.

Re: 2012/13 College Basketball Season

And then there was one.  Michigan, Duke and Wyoming all went down this weekend leaving overrated Louisville the country's only unbeaten.  The first 20 minutes of IU's game against Minnesota was textbook basketball that commentator Gus Johnson said was the best he'd seen in ten years.  Too bad the Hoosiers played awful in the second half and narrowly won.  Gophers are a darn good team and I wouldn't want them in March on a neutral court.
