Lots of great albums already mentioned. I'm going to add this one, Wilson T.King 'The Last of the Analogues'. This was recommended to me on Friday, I downloaded it from Bandcamp and it's a stunning album in my opinion. Features Wayne Proctor from Oli Browns Band on drums.

Interesting album Murray.  Not your usual Blues outfit.  I picked up "Like the Turquoise in a Crashing Wave" to chew on.  Nice guitar without the flash - a plus in my book. Wayne sounds good on drums as well as the bass player.

It's close to the end of the year and soon I'll give my final top five albums.  More to come.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

Looking back at the year, I bought a lot of music.  Steve Vai's "The Story of Light" gets my vote.  It's an awesome album through and through.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

My best of 2013 list, in no particular order after some reflection and much listening:

Frank Hannon - Six String Soldiers
Gary Hoey - Deja Blues
Anthony Gomes - Up 2 Zero
Blackberry Smoke - The Whippoorwill
ZZ Top - La Futura

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

I tell friends that the best album this year is like the '73 Belmont.  There's Secretariat (The Whippoorwill) and then 26 lengths back is pick second.  Not even close this year.

Third in on "Analog Man".  Its very " Crazy Joe" and very good.  Reprises all his styles from James Gang to Barnstorm to The Eagles

My initial thoughts were it was just so-so.  Maybe I need to take a second look.

Re: 2012 Album of the year so far.

Analog Man gets my top vote having listened to it repeatedly among my current rotation. This is Joe's "statement album" regarding his sobriety much like In Step was for SRV. It took Joe 20 years to get around to this album and I'm glad he finally did. It does have Jeff Lynne production value sprinkled in, but that's not really such a bad thing. The bottom line is it's Joe Walsh pluggin' in and turnin' it loose as only he does. As I mentioned before, if you don't have the Bonus Edition you miss out on the song Fishbone, Joe at his comical best!

"My baby's gotta fishbone, stuck down where she swallers. She can't talk louder than a whisper, when usually she HOLLERS!

The tunes are catchy, its not focused on solos and such.Just hooks and melodies and Joe W lyrics as only he can do!I found myself going back in time but its still got a dash of 2012 thrown in.

Did you get a copy with the bonus tracks, Fishbone and the James Gang song with Little Richard from the '70's? It also comes with a DVD of 3 of the new tracks live at the Troubador in LA, Analog Man, Wrecking Ball, & Lucky That Way.

My top 12 for '12! Afterglow ended up at the top of my list when all the dust settled. I still think it is just brilliant.
