Topic: Allman Bros review

Seen the Allman Bros last night with Robert Randolph. I was lucky enough to get front row tickets!! The Allman Bros put on a very memorable show I wont soon forget. They opened up with Midnight Rider and played for a total of about 2 hours or a little more and included pretty much all the hits except Whipping Post (this baffled me) and Memory of Elizebeth Reed. The highlight of the night for me was when they brought Robert Randolf back out on the stage to do a number with the Allman Bros wich included One Way Out. Awesome song with Derrick Trucks, Warren Haynes and Robert all playing their little solos.
We were lucky enough to get Robert Randolphs picks. He uses 3 of them for that slide guitar and also got the Bass player from the Allman Bros pick in wich he handed that directly to my Son. Thought that was pretty cool of him to do that. Kids allways remember them things and it helps motivate him on practicing his guitar.
Hope this helps. If you get a chance to see them I highly recommend the show. Very professional!

Warren Haynes and Govt Mule will be kicking off their tour here shortly. He will be here in Detroit in late October.

Hi Rob, Sounds like a great show.I've seen the ABB 3 times and they always put on a great show . I've never seen Robert Randolph , but would love to . And yes it's the little things like giving a kid a guitar pick, posing for a picture ,shaking hands etc that endears us to them . It's always great when rockstars can be down to earth people appreciative of what they've got . Thats why we all love Joe .........Paul/JBrules

Re: Allman Bros review

Oh yeah!! You are lucky, ABB and Robert Randolph at the same show!!

I often hear folks complain about ABB being "boring" (mind you, it's usually people who have never seen them or haven't seen them in several years). Well, all I've got to say to that is you'd better go see them now before you say that. They are the best they've ever been. And every show they get better.

And Robert Randolph -- prepare to be exhausted after his show. If you aren't dancing, there's just something wrong with ya!!! (even if you aren't much of a dancer like me). Incredible bands and incredible shows!!

We're catching ABB Sept. 8. Can't wait!!!! We've been lucky enough to have Robert Randolph in town a few times over the past 12 mos!!

Just helping to spread the word about going to see GOOD bands and GOOD live music as often as possible!!!

Re: Allman Bros review

Hey Rob, we saw the ABB here in Charlotte on the 10th of August and it was the first time I have seen them since Jan. of 1971.  I wasn't sure that I was going but on Monday the 6th, I checked on Ticketmaster for tickets and tried a couple of different options and ended up with front row, dead center!!!  Needless to say those tickets were great.  The show was over 2 1/2 hours and it was awesome.  Warren, Derek, and Oteil are great musicans.   After Greg did his acoustic number, I ended up with his pick!   We saw Robert at Crossroads and he would like to see him as a headliner...

Music is good for the Soul...

Hey Rob:

That would be a great line-up.
Have seen Gregg and his band earlier this summer in Lincoln City. Very solid sound that just like a fine wine, gets better with age. I would love to hear Warren and Gregg together. Gov't Mule is about tops on my list.
RRB is a kick in the pants. The family really knows how to rock the house. They always seem to be having the time of their lives on stage.

Wish the ABB would come to the West Coast again.

Lincoln City!!! Chinook Winds been very very good to me Ronnie. I just e-mailed a friend of mine who's headin' down the coast from Portland tomorrow and told her to hit the Chinook for some tribal duckets. They sent me home with $750.00 last time I was there.
