Re: The NFL - National Football League

Rick and Dawg, the pair of you can go do one, there's no way you're p!ssing on my party! tongue

That fumble was an honest to God miracle, a sign from above that RG3 is truly the anointed one, sent by the Universe to lead the lost Redskin tribe out of the wilderness and into a land of milk, honey, and playoffs. cool

So, the Giants had far more penalties than usual, Eli was a shadow of himself, their play calling sucked, but we still had to do the business, and we did. The Giants having a bad day by their standards takes nothing away from the Skin's performance. The key was denying them scoring opportunities in the second half, while Alf Morris just kept grinding out the yards. Jim Haslett, the Skin's defensive coordinator, has Eli's number - only two TDs thrown by Eli in his last six starts against Haslett defenses - our defense simply confused the Giants into submission. big_smile

Nope, I'm staying happy and smiling all week as we approach the beltway showdown against the Ravens next Sunday. Given Flacco's current lesser form, and given that we're on a serious roll, I see no reason why we shouldn't win that game too.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

you tell em Hammer, a win is a win however you can get it. After several replays, I thought RG's knee was down before the ball came out. I was not surprised that it wasn't overturned. Miracle, luck, whatever it worked for a TD. Playoffs you say? I'm not seeing that in the crystal ball for this year.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

BUT, Sanchez may well be playing 'for his career', so for that reason alone I'm going with the Jets. Incidentally, if I may indulge in just a small trumpet fanfare, I am 37-9 over the last three weeks. cool Don't understand why ESPN hasn't called yet.... tongue

DEN @ OAK -- Cannot imagine Peyton having much trouble with these Raiders (sorry Cat)
STL @ BUF -- Home advantage will probably tell, but the Rams are improving
ATL @ CAR -- Falcons should continue their roll without too much fuss
DAL @ CIN -- I think the Bengals are a better team right now
KC @ CLE -- A KC miracle two weeks running seems unlikely
TEN @ IND -- Should be a lock if Luck can avoid too many picks
NYJ @ JAC -- Pff, a toss up, going with Jets only because Sanchez is playing for his future (according to some blog)
CHI @ MIN -- Have to go with Da Bears again despite AP running amok.
SD @ PIT -- Should be another lock with Ben back
PHI @ TB -- The Eagles might win a game somewhere, but I'm not picking them
BAL @ WAS -- We're on a roll, the hogs are back, and the Ravens have disappointed on the road. Oh, and there's RG3!
MIA @ SF -- Niners at home, looks like another lock
NO @ NYG -- The Giants will hit back after their embarrassment on MNF, though I would love to see Brees turn them over.
ARI @ SEA -- Should be a stroll, another lock
DET @ GB -- Anything's possible, but I expect the Packers to prevail
HOU @ NE -- Another quality MNF game - I expect Brady to step up and take care of business despite the Texans (maybe) having the better team

edit - the ROY poll I referred to a couple of days ago is now at -

RG3 - 71
Luck - 43
Others (Wilson) - 15

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Thanks for thinking of me Hammer.  I appreciate your sympathy.

Actually my man got a TD. Run McFadden Run.

But Alas, Manning is one of the best and I sure didn't want him to join our division.

There were a couple of bright spots for the Raiders, but a lot of lowlights sad

But it is all about the draft now.  And boy did you get a winner of a pick, Hammer.
I wish we could get that same kind of draft pick on defense.  It's all about the off-season for us.
I just don't know why they stop Carson from using the no-huddle.  Peyton did it all night.

Can we bring Stick-um back to the NFL?  Some of our receivers need to be covered in it.  They have the dropsies.

I don't blame Carson, cause if he was playing against our defense, the receivers would have plenty of separation and he would have little pressure.

We will see GM McKenzies and his brother's roll real worth when the draft comes up.
This is what they were brought here for.  Their eye for talent.  So far it's a thumb's down for McKenzie for me in that he broke our great offense and special teams.  Let's see if he can hopefully turn something around with the draft.  I mean can we maybe make it to the 25th worse defense?

I already want Bartell gone.  I must have missed the rule where you can not get within 10 yards of the receiver.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I think Lombardi just rolled over in his grave. I hate this idea, just another attempt to water down the game. I would point you to the Titans game a few years back when they passed the kickoff out as a lateral and went for a touchdown, and for the win. Seems like there are a lot more serious injuries in regular play than on kickoffs when guys are going full speed. What ya think about it?

Why not roll a 10 sided die and give the team a "runback td" if they roll a 10 before the ball is placed. Sure would cut down on the expenses with no special teams to pay. roll

Re: The NFL - National Football League

So you are basically gonna replace a kick-off with a punt?  lol  lol lol lol

And when One of the elite QB's who may in some sort of Goddell way try a 4th and 15 on his 30 yard line, gets sacked and maybe out for the season, with more than a concussion, this has helped how?

Just trying to keep up with all the freakin freak rule book changes for each season can give anyone a concussion :fp

Either he had too much too drink, or not enough.  But where in all of La-La land did he ever think this one up?

Here is the best way to stop all concussions.  Just have my Mcfadden in the end-zone at the start of every 10 mins.  Hand him the ball.  Automatic Touchdown Raiders!  Then, let's say, hand the ball to the other team's RB every 20 mins.  No-one gets hurt.  And the Raiders go undefeated!  Raiders don't need to ever have a defense again.  I just solved the problem with Raiders! We win the SuperBowl, and me and McFadden live happily ever after.

Now I have had too much too drink, ha ha!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I've always thought that going back to those leather helmets would help reduce concussions. When the defense has to worry about hurting themselves when leading with their head, the head to head stuff would stop. I know it'll never happen, but they could try it when teams wear those throw back uniforms...it'd fit right in.

I am with you Bill-get rid of the near kevlar quality of the average battle hell met.  Plus, no face masks to grab would make 'em all be a lot tougher and even make the I.Q. challenged a little smarter...
