Topic: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

WOW!! What a show last night!!! By far the best show ive seen so far and that was probably the 10th time in the last few years we have seen Joe - We were blown away!!

I wasnt real sure if I was going to enjoy the accoustic set or not, but holy crap was I wrong!!! It was amazing!! His accoustic version of "Dislocated Boy" was stellar to say the least!!! DTTD on accoustic was another jaw dropper!!! Im not a big fan of accoustic, but Joe is the exception, I could have listened to more!! Cant wait to see it again!!

We had great seats down front, and Joe seemed to really hang out over on his right side of the stage, right in front of us, so that was cool too - From the time "Slow Train" started, im not sure the chill bumps went away!!! He was on fire last night - Amazing guitar playing as always!!!

When we were leaving, we passed by Joe's bus and got in line to get an autograph - Thats another testament to how great Joe is, he stood out there and greeted his fans, which was a pretty long line I thought, and he stayed out there until everyone got to speak with him and get a photo, or an autograph - Definite class act Joe!!!

I honestly cant say enough positive things, or find the words that describes how great this show was!!! I cannot wait until Charleston in a few weeks!!! Heck, we may run up to Youngstown this week and see it again!!!

Thanks for the killer evening Joe!!!!

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

I was there as well and agree - it was an amazing show. Second time that I have seen Joe - did not think he could top the first one but he did.

Three quick thoughts:

1. Highly impressed with the vocals last night, and the mix was really good. His singing has always been fine, but cannot believe how great he sounded during the show.

2. The tone on the LP with the tremolo (I think it was for Dust Bowl maybe) was sublime. Great tone all night but that one in particular stood out to me.

3. Cannot figure out why in the world people need restroom and beverage breaks during Mountain Time. I mean, come on people, it is freaking Mountain Time. Sit the heck down. The band nailed the song (as always), and that alone was worth the price of admission (even with bringing the whole family of 5, so the cost was not insignificant). But I had to just close my eyes for awhile during the heart of the song because people kept getting in the way coming back from whatever they felt the need to do. Sheesh. OK, rant over. Sorry.

Anyhow, bought the tickets about 6 months ago, the anticipation was challenging, but the payoff was brilliant.

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

Yes sir, its a long wait from the day of purchasing tix to the actual show!! Its worth it though!!

Im with you, I dont understand why people kept getting up and running around!

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

My wife and I were there as well (made the trip from Cleveland).  The show was awesome and I was also fortunate enough to get my les paul signed.  This was my wives first live JB exposure and before we went to the show she was watching some of Joe's material on YouTube and asked me a funny question ..... she asked why, since he is such a guitar god, is the crowd so tame while he is tearing up the fretboard.  After the show she answered her own question ..... when Joe is playing it is like a religious experience and everyone is awestruck!  I could not have said it better.

As said earlier, the vocals were great and the guitar work was awesome ... especially the deep sound from the les pauls when he was playing through the neck pickup - just awesome.  The white SG was also an amazing sound.

The show was absolutely awesome and can't wait to catch the next one as soon as we can .... Vegas I hope!

It was also great to meet and talk with other fans .. at the M&G, at the hotel, and after.

Mike

You have not experienced what a truly emotion filled solo is until you have seen Joe play Sloe Gin in person.

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

Thanks for the reviews.  I like the comment from mditurno's wife.  When we saw Joe in St. Louis I even used my zoom on my camera just to watch his fingers.  It is amazing live.  Sounds like each show of the fall tour is great but who expected less than that.

love the review.  this is why it is so hard to explain to folks why I love Joe.  you really have to see him in person to get it.

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

We came out the exit near the bus too, and thought about waiting but we weren't sure he'd come out and sign stuff so we left.  We'll know better next time.  smile

And to add a comment to the one above about people rambling around during Mountain Time, the kid sitting next to me was glued to his phone during about 90% of the show, yes you, geeky guy in Row S.  Yeesh.

Re: Columbus Ohio- Palace Theatre

IS there a set list posted somewhere for the 11/10/12 Columbus show?  I was in a joyful daze and I don't remember the order of the songs.  I'd like to make a playlist for the ipod.
Thanks!

Hi valeriech, welcome to the Forum!  You'll love it here, everyone gushing about Joe!

Go to "Show Reviews and Set Lists" then St. Louis.  Scroll down a bit.   Except for a change out with the Chuck Berry tunes, the set list is the same as Columbus.  I was there too, too bad we didn't meet up.

Enjoy being an official part of Bonanation!

Too funny. I've forwarded this comment to some people around the office.
