Topic: Hey Guys and Gals

Hello I am John and I am a Bona-holic.

(I could hear the "Welcome John" in my head as I typed that)

I have been a Joe fan for the past 3 years but have consumed enough of his material to feel like I have been a life long fan.  About three years ago, I saw he was coming to Huntington, WV which is about 25 minutes from my hometown.  I had heard of Joe but was unfamiliar with him.  So I did not attend, a decision I regret to this day.  About a month later, while I was in the beginning stages of divorce, I caught the Albert Hall show on PBS.  "Stop" was the first full song I heard and was drawn in immediately (for obvious reasons).  Since then I have amassed all recorded material available (from Bloodline to BCC).

As a guitarist, Joe's tone is like the holy grail of guitar tones.  Each time I have seen him live I have been inspired to play more and yet throw all my gear out the window.

Re: Hey Guys and Gals

Welcome!  I was at the Huntington show, definitely missed a good one! (Then again I haven't been to a bad one)  Took a friend, who's from Louisville, to his first show in D.C. on Saturday.  He can't wait to see Joe again.

Check out  the 'Joe's Guitars, Amps and Gear' section, lots of gear talk you might like.

That's a great line, John. Reminds me of something my son said (with a smile) as we walked out right after the D.C. show last weekend: "That was fantastic but now I feel like I'm not really good at anything."

Anyway, welcome aboard.

Re: Hey Guys and Gals

VAfan, I sit here chuckling to my self, love this comment.  I am not a guitar player but my son is.  He told me one day before watching Joe play.  I bet I can play as  good as Joe B can.  I laughed to myself.  So then we let him watch the Beacon DVD and after Midnight Blues, our son said, Damn, I need to practice.

Ha! I definitely can picture that moment. The music is enrapturing, but every now and then I think, “Doggone it, nobody should be that good at anything.”

Re: Hey Guys and Gals

...let me know what window you'll be throwing the next lot of gear out of will ya? hmm

...welcome to the abode! wink
