Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

Well first of all let me say. It never pleases me to hear someone did not enjoy the show. We all put a lot of effort day in and day to avoid that. I just want to clarify a few things before the windup. One: only the first rows are priced at 99 dollars. Unfortunately there is a ticketmaster fee plus other vig style charges that we have nothing to do with. But to imply every seat in the house is over 100 dollars is just not accurate. Secondly I have redone the show several times in the past two years.  This being the most radical change. I am really chuffed with the response to the acoustic part. Overall it's been a win. Of course there are always exceptions. BCC is a rock band.  I'm kinda of a blues band. I can't please everybody. We generally sell 10,000 tickets per week and I try to float between all eras and radically different sounding material without being too all over the place.  Again. I appreciate all the insight especially from you Tica.  I do try hard to please everyone especially the ones who have taken this journey with me.

PS. Wanna take a guess what the three most requested songs are in the meet and greets
1. Just Got Paid
2. Mountain Time
3. Woke Up Dreaming.

Acoustic opening set was great in Youngstown 2 weeks ago...I think change is good.......:)

Joe Bonamassa,
I just got to start my day with a smile......your unique expressiveness style just warms my heart everytime..........there's no one else like you....I'd give up my last dollar to see you  and probably walk across broken glass if I had to lol .......I was telling Rhonda last night after the Kenny Rogers show at the Civic Center how much fun it was to watch dedicated fans of another artist........my first thought was, "That's what we must look like to others!" and my second thought was "How sweet it is to see people put the cares of the day away and just come out for a night of fun!"     Life's too short, as I have found out most recently, to not grab at those things in life that make you happy.  So with out further adieu, I say you always go the extra mile onstage and offstage.......and I thank you profusely for the journey smile

I've come to the conclusion that not everybody will be happy, no matter what is served, or how it's presented. And not everyone is a Joe Bonamassa fan. Thats cool. I like a variety of music too. I don't want Joe B. to be a Warren Haynes and I don't want Warren to be Joe. I love jam bands but I love blues and blues rock, rock-n-roll and even classical too sometimes. There's a lot more music available today than what was only available on radio back in the day, and I'm grateful for the availability/accessibility! So if the TV program or the music doesn't suit your tastes, just turn the bloody channel please! No one is force feeding you anything. Have a nice day. smile

Stay Safe Y'all

Hey Joe, Sharon and I will be seeing you for the ???? time....Lost track over the past 8 years or so...In Columbus, GA this coming Friday 11/30...We are as excited as ever to see you and the band...Really looking forward to the accoustic set we have heard so much about...Your show never gets old for us...We go all the way back to Gilly's in Dayton and the Fraze Pavillion...Keep up the great word...Stay healthy and we'll see you again on Friday...Oops, just got some goose bumps!...

The Other Joe B.

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me...and, I'm feelin good

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

I personally don't find Joe's ticket prices that outrageous. He and his band are top notch musicians playing in 2500 seat theatres, they aren't just a bunch of young guys, just starting out, playing in bars anymore. The prices seem to range from 69-99 depending on where you sit. Complain to ticketmaster about all the extra charges that get tacked on. And as far as the set lists go, yeah there are a bunch of repeats, but we have seen him now 4 times just this year, and have heard 28 different songs. That's a good bit of variety. Of course sometimes you have to travel a bit to get the variety, but I would say it is definitely worth it. It all boils down to how important something is to you.  I am personally looking forward to the summer and a possible Joe and Beth show. I think from now on our vacations will probably revolve around Joe.  It is great to be traveling to hear music again.

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

I've paid way more and gotten less entertainment value. I'm sure many have gone to gigs where the band "phoned it in". I've walked out on bands that just weren't worth listening to on that night. Never with Joe and his band. Keep it coming and play what you like Joe. Even the same songs are always given a fresh touch and I love hearing that new riff that comes as a surprise.

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

It's hard for me to digest these complainy threads. We are here because we are fans and support Joe. He seems like a great guy (I've not met him yet). It's hard for me to fathom that people would take that much time and energy to post such negative comments. Time and time again we hear about the ticket prices. Beating a dead horse. Things cost a lot these days!

Someone said earlier, "Can't afford it? Don't go."  Brilliant statement right there. You know, there's always the DVDs.

And all the comments about the set lists! I wish he would play this, play that, I'm sick of this song. Folks, the best concert you will get out of Joe is him PLAYING the SONGS HE WANTS TO PLAY.

Edit to add: About once a year, I get to go to a great concert. My favorite music, played by my favorite artist, in a great venue. Better than a steak and fine wine. Would I give up a month of Starbucks to see Joe live? You bet your arse I would!

Amen!

Joe I saw you for the 1st time in Buffalo in May and then again in November in Rochester. 2 very different shows. I loved them both. I like when an artist plays what they want to play and play it with ability and passion. You do that. The fact that you do shows that are different is a major plus as you keep growing and not definiing yourself too narrowly. As you have more and more songs that have grabbed your fans over time, it just is not feasible to play them all. Good to have that problem though!

I hope you will always play with the enthusiasm, outrageously good musicianship and passion you have now. You'll have loyal fans for life, including this one.

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

Hi Joe
I DID enjoy the show and please don't think that I didn't. No I didn't get the electric guitar chill. Maybe it was PMS, or maybe it was just not enough extra-long electric guitar jams this time. (Led Zep number was sort of short with the wailing guitar thing you do at the beginning of that part)  wink Along with all your other number 1 fans on this forum, I count myself there at the top. And I'm actually one of your younger fans smile  It started when I heard you play your last 4 songs when opening for Peter Frampton in NYC...around...8-9? years ago. You blew the crowd away. I had no idea who you were and actually couldn't remember your name afterwards--but eventually figured it out and started going to every nearby concert of yours I could!  AND playing all your stuff in my fitness classes and bringing others to be Bonabaptized!

And in earlier years I could because of those darn ticket prices. I do include all the fees in the estimate because they are part of the cost. It is prohibitive for many new people I have found, and I have found it tough the last few years to get anyone to come with me because of it. And that's such a shame because I want to share my experience of your show with everyone I know.

My comments were really just about wanting to hear more hard guitar and more new stuff, maybe have it be not so predictable (although clearly many others do not agree with me in the least!) Yes, I realize that you can't please everyone and you are trying to straddle several genres. I'm OK with some of that fast bluesy stuff as long as their are long guitar jams in the middle of them.

Perhaps I was being over-analytical as someone suggested. I analyze for a living (a phd). But I dunno, if I had these feelings maybe others do too and perhaps it's worth hearing evaluations that are not 100% praise all the time?! I think I repeatedly acknowledged your guitar greatness, but also offered perhaps some insights may or may not be worth a think.

And those 3 are the most requested songs, huh? I do love Mountain Time. But I'm also excited to love some new stuff, too. smile  I know you are a blues guy, but I actually believe that you could go mainstream and get played on regular radio because many of your songs are radio-playable imho.  If that weeny John Meyer can do it...it looks like you just have to hook up with Britney Spears or Paris Hilton or something smile

Anyway, thank you for being open-minded and not as harsh as some of my fellow fans! I really only meant my comments in the best possible way. Some of your fans got insulted for you and seem to want me to stay home and watch DVDs. Not gonna happen wink

Good luck with the remainder of your tour. I turned on some of my close friends in Paris to you a few years ago...you may recall meeting Steven Saltzman, big guy in the international radio business...who has since introduced many of his high-powered French pals to your shows...at one show in France he brought 10 people and once of them was Prince Albert of Monaco, I believe....
Looking forward to the next CD!

Joe,

Is the 4th most requested tune Pain And Sorrow?  If not, I have work to complete to change that....

My thoughts exactly, or maybe Reconsider Baby?

Totally agree with both!

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

Wow, what a long thread. However, felt the need to add my thoughts/experience. Three (sorta) quick points:

1. Saw Joe 2 years ago, and saw him about 3 weeks ago in Columbus OH. Loved both shows, and really enjoyed the change up in the set list and approach for the current tour. No complaints from me. Just Got Paid was actually a lot better this time around.

2. Just spent a lot of money to take my family (of 5) to the Columbus OH show. I guess it is expensive, but the memories cannot be valued.

3. The priceless parts (to me): my 15 year old twins loving the show and now having the bar set high for any future concerts that they attend, my daughter promptly posting on Facebook about how amazing Joe was, and my 11 year old son (who looked forward to the show for several months and was not disappointed) smiling the whole way home talking about his favorite parts of the concert.

Bottom line - impossible to please everyone, but I think the vast majority are continuing to have an absolute blast being fans and attending shows when they can.

Re: Tickets way too expensive, need new rock stuff and Tilles comments

Thanks, Pearl!

I've never been to a meet-and-greet...maybe only the fans with those 3 songs as their top faves are the ones getting their votes in?!  Maybe I'll have to try to go to one and also put in a nod to Pain and Sorrow among others..(I think I've only heard Pain and Sorrow...twice...once at Mexicali in NJ about..7 years ago? Not sure about the other time, sometime around then I think.

Funny how things go, Tica. I've been fortunate enough to meet Joe loads of times, including several lengthy, personal quality sessions, but I've never heard P&S live. You win some, you lose some.... wink

I heard P&S twice live and it was unbelievable.  First time in Duiven November 2004 killed me and the whole venue. One of the best songs I've ever heard live but Joe developes and I like what he is doing now the same. Different but more mature.
It is harder to write a song of 5 minutes when all comes together then doing a guitarsolo of 20 minutes............Joe B and Paul Rodgers!
