SEVENTEEN YEARS
WOW
HARD TO BELIEVE
I SAW HIM PLAY
HOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE?
Saw Stevie with Jeff Beck and at a local club in DC back in the early 80's and in Austin also in the 80's
Got to see him 3 times in the Baltimore/Washington area. Miss him madly! Thank the stars for Joe, the source of new hope.......Cathy
they almost closed down alpine valley a couple years ago to install condos...that would've been blasphemy.
It's hard to believe it's been that long but his music still lives on and stands the test of time.
We live about 3 miles from Alpine and his spirit is still here. We're going to pay our respects on Monday. Tallan's going to take his guitar and pignose amp and we're going out there to play a song for Stevie.
Apline is starting to add more concerts every year for the last couple of years. On Sept 22nd, there is going to be a festival with about 13 different bands playing and Tallan is going to sit in with a blues band on the main stage. He doesn't know it yet, it's a surprise. Just happens the 22nd is his 8th birthday. Pretty cool birthday present to play at Alpine Valley.
Take care.
Carl and Tallan
I saw Stevie live twice, but the performance that sticks with me most was him and Jimmy together in New Orleans on MTV. It was either spring break or Mardi Gras coverage of them on a river boat playing a double neck guitar strapped to Jimmy with Stevie wrapped around him playin' half while Jimmy played the other half and you could tell they were havin' the time of their lives doin' it. Now that's brotherly love.
RIP,

Never saw Stevie live but I remember the first time I heard him was in 84 in a bar in St. Simon, GA. They were playing Texas Flood. Immediately found out who was playing and bought the cassette tape. Now I have all his recordings, DVDs and many items of memorabila related to SRV.
When we went to Joefest in Dallas, my wife and drove down to Austin and visited some of the places that he hung out at, like Ray Hennings Music and the BBQ place that he would frequent. Really cool time. Also have met Stevie's brother which was really special... He is missed...

i went to see stevie at this other college cw post and i really had to take a s*it looked all over for a clean place to go and i couldn't find any so i took a nice dump in the deans office and then went back to the show and recored it .lol joe
I saw him on my TV.....I was only 2 when he died. I would give anything to see him live (impossible, I know!)
Joe was scheduled to play with him 2 weeks after he died....
Saw him one time shortly before he died. Had a couple of other opportunities that I just didn't make time to do. I was raising a family when he first broke Nationaly and I was broke. Seeing him was believing and I could kick myself for not making a better effort to catch him sooner.
The next time I was blown away like that was Joe B. I'm not missing out on Joe though. Kids are grown and I have a little more disposable income now.

where was joe gonna play with him? if i'm right joe would of been 14 at the time stevie died and i'm pretty sure joe wasn't on tour with a band then . i could be wrong . do you have any more if on that ..joe
I never saw him but was offered tickets that afternoon for the Alpine Valley show.
We felt it was too late to drive down there so we passed the tickets up - next
day we heard the news. If I could have one day of my life back this might be it.
I did however get a Tee shirt from the concert.

joe,
Great stories that you shared about Stevie and recording him. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like a copy of a couple of the shows that you would pick out. I'll send the necessary stuff, OK? Hey, one more thing about the above post. Did you star with John Belushi in "Animal House"? Because I'm sure there's a scene in the movie just like that!.........LOL!!!!
Roy
P.S. Was it Dean Wormer's office?....................LOL!!!!

Caught Stevie just a few weeks before he passed. He was playing with Joe Cocker at the Gorge in WA and Joe was late so Stevie opened up. Needless to say it was a great show, but the encore with both bands on stage performing a few classics together was priceless !
