Re: Springfield show

Great show as usual. Joe's voice sounded fine despite his sinus issues. He mentioned he had to take something to get him through the night. Loved the acoustic set especially dislocated boy. Lots of subtle changes to some favorites. The sold out crowd loved the performance. I am spent-will report more specifics tomorrow. The new king continues to build his legacy!

Re: Springfield show

Another great show!  Met a bunch of new people and some very dear friends as well.  More later.  Joe's voice sounded fine.  As he said - all i need is a little Mucinex and Penicillin and I'm good.  More tomorrrow.

Sandy

Spider - hope I sent the text to the right number - we all made it home just fine.  Safe travels to you tomorrow.

Re: Springfield show

No doubt the man is a trooper. I think it was a bit more than a sinues infection. Still he got out there and played his butt off.  I personally liked the solo he did at the Bushnell better but the encore was better at this show. I felt he was really pushing himself through it because of his illness. It will never be as magical as the first time i seen him at the Bushnell.  Thank you guitar monster.

Re: Springfield show

What a great show, Joe was awesome even though he was fighting a sinus issue. Loved the new acoustic beginning. I had the best seat I ever had. Center first row. Totally awesome. I also met Andy, met Jay, Rich and Rich. Andy we will need to link up again when we have more time to chat. I also met Joe's mom and dad.
A great night indeed.
Post photo's later.
Cheers Ron

5 Woke up dreaming  (acoustic)

11 Wee wee hours (Chuck Berry cover)
12 Look over yonders wall
13 Blues Deluxe
14 Young man blues
15 Mountain time
encore
16 Sloe Gin
17 Just got paid

Re: Springfield show

Sloe Gin was acoustic?!?!?

Re: Springfield show

Though I wasn't there (did see Rochester show, heading to Albany 5/11/13) I believe BC1818 is saying Joe's next to last  accoustic song (Dislocated Boy) was phenomenal. (As opposed to the next to last song of the night Sloe Gin).

Re: Springfield show

No Bonawho,  Sloe Gin was towards the end of show and just amazing.

As I recall,  the first five songs were acoustic with  a great Slow Train kicking off the electric stuff. Midnight Blues was also stellar.

Interesting because I got a copy of the setlist at the show and I must have been transported to another astral plain because I heard a most amazing DJANGO last night (or at least i thought i did) and it does not appear on the setlist? Oh well.

The whole Young Man's Blues, Sloe Gin,  Just Got Paid / Zepplin was just perfection !

Bonamassa at his best is as good or better than anyone I've ever seen and heard live and that includes SRV who i saw 10 times. He always seems to have a couple of songs each show with some rough transitions but I think they are the same songs each time. He either likes them  the way they are or is just having trouble working out the rough spots. Overall another great show with great sound (depending on where exactly one sat as i moved around a bit.). Glad i could make it.

Bobbyth, Joe incorporated Django into his solo intro to Mountain Time, a new twist.  Yes, absolutely gorgeous.

Re: Springfield show

I went to the Springfield show.  I met DebFromMaine.  (Deb, I'm the lady that you talked to about the passes....while Dad was behind us).  Despite his battle with his sinuses.... his performance was impeccable!!  I posted two videos - one of the acoustic Driving Towards The Daylight ( http://youtu.be/_HjjUEJDZlU  ) and Mountain Time  on YouTube.  The vids are not super quality, but it was the best I could do with an iPhone.   Great Show Joe!!   Hope you feel better!
And Deb.... thanks for the info..

Re: Springfield show

Where to start? I guess the first thing to be said is that I am completely amazed at the energy and passion that Joe plays with. We all knew he was sick before the show. The show is just a complete tribute to how professional Joe and the boys are. It would have been easy to take the night off or just go through the motions. To be honest I could not believe how good the show was knowing the situation. O.K enough of the love in time for the show!!! I found the accoustic set to be very good and was pleasently surprised how good the songs flowed together. This is coming from a rip and shred guy who would rather see Joe bring it hard on every song. The only problem with doing the accoustic set at the beginning was when the electric set started Slow Train seemed to blow my ears out. Took me a few songs to adjust-really don't know if this was because of going from one extreme to the other or if the sound was just off because after the sound was great. I like that Joe changed up a lot of the songs. Some of my faves were Dust Bowl(Joe ROCKED OUT)! Midnight Blues was so clear and simply awesome! Always like Mountain Time and tonight was no different-just seemed to sound extra good this night. Was not a big fan of Sloe Gin-slowed down and mellowed out. JGP was fun as usual spiced up with a little Whitesnake!! All in All a good show and lots of fun. Great to meet a lot of new people-Sandy,Deb,Lee,Ron,Jay and others whose name escape me at the time. See You In BOSTON!! Have some vids of the show and will post the complete accoustic set soon!!

Dont need a helmet to get me through life-walk across the water blame it on foolish pride.

Re: Springfield show

5 songs acoustic ending with Woke up Dreaming. That would make the 2nd to last acoustic  Driving toward the Daylight.
My personal acoustic fav was  Discolated Boy.

Comment on Woke up Dreaming - if you have seen Joe you know this song is a highlight - a mind blower!
Last nights solo acoustic version was excellent but personally I prefer the entire band version. I was listening to the original version of Woke Up Dreaming on the" No hype Just hits" (greatest hits) CD last night on the way home. The original version - of Woke Up - originally on the Blues Deluxe CD ( nothing like the most recent band version) actually sounds OK.

Some great posts about last nights show - nothing more to add. See everyone in May!

Re: Springfield show

Greeting Fellow Bonamassa Freakazoids!!!!!

Well worth the ( 8 ) hours of travel time to see show.......Josh, my little guitar playing buddy, was his first show, and the permagrin is still on his face, both from attending the Meet & Greet ( getting his Gretsch signed ) and then the show.......his enthusiam for the show, priceless man, simply priceless!!!!   Big kudos to "Big Hearted Ron" for running over the drum stick he snagged, when Tal threw out to the crowd, and gave to Josh!!!!!   That is one of the many things that I love about many of the JB fans, so selfless......

We got to town at noontime, and had the GREAT PLEASURE of finally meeting Andy ( Spider ), had a great time getting my guitar geek on with bro.......only regret, no guitars to play man!!!!

Meet & Greet was fun stuff, presented Joe with GOLDIE FLANGER pedal, for in May 2012, he gave my nephew his acoustic guitar from stage, and wanted to personally acknowledge and thank him for that....and since I don't have any '59 Bursts laying around.....wanted to do something special......special thanks to one individual for making that meeting happen.....MAJOR KUDOS!!!!!!!   http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= … amp;type=1  <-- there is link to pedal project if you are interested????

Additionally, got to meet some new folks.....sorry I am SUPER BAD WITH NAMES......but met the fella that told forum about the tickets that Ron bought for show we got acoustic at, so that was too funny!!!!! and cool.....  Was cool talking amp building with Steve P., nice meeting Becky and "scarfin" down dinner to make the show, lol....

Got to hang with Sandra.....who I always love to see.....my guitar loving camera gal.......thanks for hooking Josh up with gift.....he was thrilled with it....very thoughtful as well.

Notice, have not talked much about the show yet, huh???   Again, did I mention, how cool to finally hook up with Andy.

Ron - wish we had more time.......I see a trip to NH in the future, time to marmalade again....
Rich - next show man, I am calling you in sick.....you work too much man!!!!  3 1/2 ride to get to show, took away from our GUITAR GEEK TALKING!!!!!!!  And nice to see Rich G. again, rocking a cool tshirt too......

Now the show......hmmmm.....as Andy said, my seats really sucked!!!!   Man was he right, lol......now let me back up, I brought a guitar slinging madman to see Joe for the first time, he mentioned that when he is in awe, he laughs......well that mofo was giggling all night, made me enjoy the show all the more, as he was my guest at the concert........the first of many a show I foresee in his future, he was already talking about Boston in spring, lol.....Even Deb busted my chops about the seats....as Joe played in front of us alot last night.....and once again, I am stealing TONS OF NEW LICKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have never guessed he was sick, except for the box of tissues that Mike H. brought out and place on amp.

Now I wonder this......all four heads on stage last night were powered up, but three were on stand-by all night, and had no cables plugged in.....and Joe was using A/B/C box ( pretty sure ), so what was he playing through last night besides the one marshall that was plugging in and turned on?   Core tone sounded the same, a Black '88 or Jubliee behind the amps maybe?  Or maybe R.C.'s new Carol Anne head???  hmmmm, inquiring minds of guitar geeks want to know, lol...........

Okay.....for a guy that checks this forum everyday, but does not post much......this is lengthy post.....lol......

Thank you Joe for another mind blowing show....and nice to see many of my friends.....only sucks not enough time.....and Andy, thanks for the hang, very cool to finally shake you hand and shot the **## about pickups, amps and git-fiddles!!!!
