NEW YORK (Associated Press) --  Amy Winehouse has put her North American tour on hold, raising more concerns about her health. "Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates," the British singer's publicist, Tracy Miller, said in a statement Tuesday.

"Amy's European and U.K. tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her U.S. tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health."

Last week, it was announced that the 23-year-old was canceling all her August performances due to "severe exhaustion." While British tabloids have claimed the retro-soul singer has been in rehab due to drug abuse, her spokeswoman has denied such claims.

Winehouse made her U.S. debut this year with the acclaimed album "Back to Black," but her celebrity has been fueled by her tabloid image as much as her talent. She's spoken openly about her past battles with drugs and her penchant for alcohol and marijuana, and her hit single "Rehab" is an autobiographical tale of her resistance to being pushed to go to rehab: "They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no."

I guess touring the continents isn't for women. Sorry for the chauvanistic comments ladies. Too bad about Amy not touring. Many of the local musican community are big fans of hers. She will be hard to knock out of her #1 position on the Blues Chart. Only time will tell if she can handle the fame.

Jim..It's more like performers with uncontrolled demons can have problems touring. It is a shame because I have her CD and really do get a retro-kick out of it...Cathy

Hi Fret. No. She's a great singer. Very sultry voice. She was on the cover of RS June 14, 2007. She evokes the spirit of the pre-Beatle, 45rpm era. It's fun stuff...Cathy

Ouch Jane. It was a back hand compliment to Joe at Amy's expense. He has been touring for 7 years now not including his stint in Bloodline. You would think if Joe had to cancel because of exaustion those of us who know his schedule would understand. Amy has been out maybe a year and she couldn't handle it. For whatever reason. I think exuastion is a lame excuse for her to use at this time. I guess I should of said Touring the continents isn't for this woman. Leaving the whole gender out of it. Wouldn't be the first time I got kicked under the table for something I said here. I can't call Michael McDonald wimpy anymore either.

Plenty of other women tour with no troubles and don't suffer tour ending "exhaustion". I'm pretty sure that this exhaustion was not caused by the actual tour but by what substances she was taking...

It used to be that a band like Aerosmith could tour and just do drugs and drink like crazy. Yeah, they'd flame out in about 7 years, but it wasn't like today. I notice more and more bands today can't handle touring and drinking. I'm glad that Joe is showing people that you don't have to do this and just absolutely kick everybody's hind ends. He brings it every single night he plays. That is commendable.

Let's be fair. And let's be clear. Touring is GRUELING.  There is pressure whether real or perceived.  Stage fright? Some have it, and yes many top performers suffer, and yet some don't.  There's an edge there whether it's a comfortable one or totally unsightly, and at some point it may need trimming, it may need shaving, and it may need mowing, to use landscaping metaphors.  Sometimes the edge can make people fall off & down, accidentally or intentionally.

The Ramones had "The Strength To Endure", as long as they were on tour, for 2+ decades...their 7 year fizzle came after the lights went down & out...RIP (Hey Ho! No! NO! Give 'em Hell in Heaven") dudes!

Gee's I think the Stones have been touring for over 40 years with every kind of drug/
alcohol/divorces...every kind of problem you could think of, and they're still putting
out fantastic 3 hour shows.

Thanks Fret and I'm glad it made your day! Oh, I forgot something about Ben's football. His scrimmages and games will be played on Saturdays with the parents being required to transport their sons each way. Also, the parents are "required" to "volunteer" for 3-4 hours during the season to handle the chains, clock, merchandise table and clean up of the stands. You know, I've got a bad headache. I think I'll go lay down now.

It only made my day, because I too have kids.  Your day sounds like a typical day for most of us who have children.  My kids are 9 and 5 so they aren't involved in nearly as much as yours, but it gets so crazy at times.  At least they aren't babies anymore.  I could barely get up with them every hour at night when I was in my twenties!
