Re: The NFL - National Football League

last I saw they were heading to the woodshed. I think it just shows how much Cutler means to them, at both a talent and psyche level. If you were a Bears player going on the road to play an excellent team, would you really trust Jason Campbell to get it done?

Re: The NFL - National Football League

My gut says The Bears are not go as Jay Cutler goes.  If I was a Bears playa, I couldn't trust Campbell anymore than I would trust Cutler.  The QB isn't the problem. Coaching (offensive line) is.  And I mean peer coaching as well.  Practice should be geared towards the Bears defense harassing the offensive tackle positions for the pass and the entire line for the run.

The Bears defense, awesome as it (still) is, just met their match!  But if their offense can get it done by blood, sweat, and swears against their OWN defense whipping on 'em in the behind the woodshed practice sessions...they have a good chance of moving on.  Otherwise...

Re: The NFL - National Football League

As great as Colin Kaepernick played last night it provided an entire game's worth of film for future games offensive coordinators to study. I'm not knockin' him in the least, but last night the Bears were clueless to what he was capable of. As you've probably heard if anybodies tuned in ESPN this morning, the "talking heads" are brewing up a QB controversy in SF. Harbaugh's response last night was, "I'll go with the guy with the hot hand and right now I've got 2 guys with a hot hand." What a dilemna!!!

The Bears laid yet another egg on MNF. Fans in Chicago know that, for whatever reason, the Bears suck on Monday nights.
That said, the Niners exposed some significant shortcomings. I will stand by the defense...they had a bad game, but are much better than what they showed. I have heard sportswriters actually talking about them being better than the 1985 Bears defense, which is utter nonsense...they are a solid D, but that 1985 Bears defense is arguably the best defense ever.

The Bears REAL problem, is they have a very poor offensive line. Green Bay exposed that earlier this year and the Niners drove that point home with a sledgehammer. They had a poor O line last year and didn't make any changes, except for signing a SF cast off (Rachal) who seems to fit right in. That may have been the worst performance by an offensive line that I have ever seen. The rumor in Chicago is the Bears will put Gabe Carimi on the DL...with a bruised tailbone (he landed on it often enough!). I had hopes the O line might get better as time went by, but Monday night convinced me that, even if they make the playoffs, they will never go anywhere when they have to play against playoff caliber teams.

Nobody on the team showed up to play on Monday...not a one. Some fans will blame the coaches (and they'd be right), some will blame the players (they'd be right too), hell, may as well blame the training staff and the guy that drove the bus to the stadium too. I'm not saying the Bears should have beat the Niners, but they should have at least competed!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Jim Harbaugh is not one of my favorite people at the moment, I dont agree with all the BS he has started by the stupid comments concerning the starting QB.....lets see, are you really serious about changing QBs this late in the season, with a divisional title in your grasp, AND hand the club to a kid with ONE good start in his career??.....quit with all that crap, and hope you dont screw Alex Smiths head into a tailspin when he comes back.....Jim, you need to be real carefull, I wont forget this brainfart the day you get fired.....and you WILL someday

Shred, relax.....If Kap doesn't git 'er done Harbaugh has the option to inject Alex. I think Kaepernick may be the answer. I watched him eat Cal alive a couple years ago in Reno and last Monday night he proved his worth in the NFL. Lay off the Acid & Alcohol Dude!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I'll start with tomorrow's games for now, and post the others before Sunday. Skins-Boys could clearly go either way, the other two looked nailed on for the visitors. I'll save my upset picks for Sunday. wink

HOU @ DET - I can't convince myself that this will be one of the upsets of this round. Texans first team to 10.

WAS @ DAL - A do or die game for both teams. My pick is no surprise!

NE @ NYJ - Despite the Jets ****ing me up for a perfect score last week, no way do I see them taking Brady down.

I just finished reading an article regarding Harbaugh's decision to go with Kaepernick and the summation hit the nail on the head. The Niners have a great "O" line which creates a great running game combined with an even greater defense, but Alex Smith is nothing more than average as QB's go so why not turn the kid loose. The other point made was that Harbaugh himself was an Alex Smith as far as his NFL career went and knows it. So IMO this is in the teams best interest to take the chance to get to the next level. Of course this would all be a moot point if the Niners had drafted Aaron Rodgers on that fateful draft day. Smith may have given the Niners the old 7 year itch.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Late start, but haven't even had the tube on yet with food prep in full swing for the big family gathering.

Houston
Dallas
New England

I'll fill in the rest later. Apples to peel for the Waldorf salad. My all nighter with the smoker has the house smelling like Kansas City as the two 20 pounders sit in splendor reeking aromas of sweet oak smoke. big_smile
Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US. I'm thankful for too much to list.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Vikings @ Bears - It's now or never for da Bears to wake up and rediscover how to play. Last chance from me.
Raiders @ Bengals - Bengals all over the hapless Raiders
Steelers @ Browns - My upset pick of the round
Bills @ Colts - Colts to bounce back at home
Titans @ Jaguars - Jaguars maybe not as bad as 1-9 suggests, but Titans should be better
Broncos @ Chiefs - Peyton, nuff said.
Seahawks @ Dolphins - Seahawks should outscore and out defend these Fins
Falcons @ Buccaneers - This could be real tough and could be another upset, but I'm sticking with a winning team
Ravens @ Chargers - Ravens to blunt the Bolts
Rams @ Cardinals - Time to bust that six game losing streak, though the Rams could sneak this one
49ers @ Saints - Could certainly go either way, both need the win, Niners on a coin toss
Packers @ Giants - The Pack can do my Skins a huge favor here!
Panthers @ Eagles - The Monday night game that NO neutral is waiting for - two awful teams, only KC has cored less points than these Eagles, I'll go for the Panthers.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

What a blessing a local blackout is. I got to miss another famous fubar by the Boltz as the now legendary 4th and 29 is immortalized in the annals of futility and fan frustration. They once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as five defenders missed, a ref made a nocall on a block in the back and his cohort advanced the spot just enough. Par for the course roll.
A beautiful sunny afternoon putting up Christmas lights on the house and trees was just dandy instead.

JAC @ BUF – Bills to edge it
SEA @ CHI – Da Bears to roll at home
IND @ DET – Luck to get lucky in Motown
MIN @ GB – The Pack to recover at Lambeau
HOU @ TEN – I expect Texas to have too many guns big_smile

SF @ STL – The Kap fairy tale to continue
NE @ MIA – The Brady bunch to do the business
ARI @ NYJ – Home advantage, no other reason
TB @ DEN – Peyton’s the man
CLE @ OAK – Not many will be waiting to see this, Browns maybe a touch less bad?
CIN @ SD – Could be a really good, close game. Bengals to edge it.
PIT @ BAL – Ravens always up for the old enemy, and after eight turnovers…..
PHI @ DAL – Not even the Cowboys can blow this win, Eagles just awful.

NYG @ WSH - Form, logic, and common sense all point to the Giants. I’m going for the upset! cool
