You have to be kidding me!! I wish he would have lopped his off with that sword on stage instead of just cutting his face.  I swear that was Ronnie James Dio in the back round playing guitar.

Re: Need A GOOD Laugh ?

That was almost painful to watch! No matter what you think of him though, David Lee Roth was probably the most dynamic rock front-man ever. Van Halen was never the same after he left. I'm a big Sammy Hagar fan too, dating back to Montrose, and of course his solo stuff, but he never seemed to fit in Van Halen. The little red rocker has a new album coming out July 25th, by the way...

Has anyone heard his 1997 "Marching to Mars" CD? I guess Ronnie Montrose played on it, as did Slash.

Re: Need A GOOD Laugh ?

I went to see Billy Sheehan last week at a bass clinic (working on the write up, Joanie) and someone asked him, out of his discology to 50+, which was the worst album.  As he stated that he did not want to "pick on any of his children".  However, he said the most disappointing album was the DLR Skyscraper.

How ironic...the fella sitting next to me, out of his whole collection, that was the only cd he managed to grap on his way out the door...to get autographed.  Something to chuckle at.

Is he stoned?  He looks stoned!

Re: Need A GOOD Laugh ?

Tara...you make me laugh. Glad you got to see Billy and look forward to the review.

DLR still has something unique going for him. He's weird, that's true, but you know what? I've seen him on a couple shows recently (and forget that his super wide smile frightens me) and there is something...something there that makes him a compelling figure. I think he got the concept that self-parody can be extremely entertaining and helps kill the urge others might have to mock you. The whole point is to have onstage. DLR does that...has always done that. Taking yourself too seriously is the quickest road to burnout.

I have to say,  Strummin' With The Devil: Bluegrass Tribute to Van Halen is an interesting concept and the execution is equally intriguing.

Sorry for the DLR overdose.

I don't think I have a comment for that!

Stu,

I have the CD, and it's great.  Yes I did know that Montrose and Slash play on it.  I have to agree with you about the front man deal also.  I felt that the Red Rocker was held back some on his guitar also during th VH days, just my thought tho.  Keep rocking and keep telling all you know about Joe!
