Topic: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

Noticed that Joe changed up his rig and added the Trainwreck last night... Amazing show, and first time sitting front row. I'll include the link with all my pictures from last night since I included every guitar that was played.

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

"Spot" was my favorite guitar of the evening... I've already emailed the SD custom shop to see if they could possibly do a JB Set in double white/creme... for a Les Paul that I don't even have yet.

I was told by Sally (I think?) that you were at the show last night as well?

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

That Firebird was pretty sweet looking.

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

I love those old Firebird I's. The RI's seem a little hard to come by, so I was thinking about having Kauer build one for me... check out the Kauer Banshee.

You may struggle with the double whites/creme as I believe Larry DiMarzio may have legal dibs on the double white humbucker

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

Yeah, he does... he holds the trademark... which is kind of beyond me. But I've done some reading, and I read (on forums, so take it for what it's worth) that the trademark is for the outward appearance only. If they cover double whites and you decide to uncover them, then that's up to you. I hope that's how it works as I prefer SD to DiMarzio.

Thanks for the photos.  I love seeing each guitar he plays and I am starting to know some history behind them.

Good point. I'm with you on the trademark thing. Given the PRS/Gibson debacle the ultimate get out clause could lie in the pole piece spacing ;-). i.e. you can easily see from the different pole spacing which is a DiMarzio /SD / Gibbo pickup. (Just saying)

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

No problem WV.... It's fun keeping up with all the gear changes.

Crave- Yeah its tricky... I guess some winders won't touch it, even covered. We shall see. I haven't heard back from SD yet, but that project is going to go on the back burner while I get an esquire custom built for me next month.

Re: 11/14 Youngstown Gear

I think they will do it for you, but with covers on. My Bonamassa neck pickup is double white. You know what I think would be be really cool? If Seymour Duncan measured the specs on Skinner, Spot, and The Babe and offered those pickups as well as the ones from Magellan that they did. I've read that Spot has a pretty unique bridge pickup in that it measures 10k which is really high for a PAF. The Bonamassa pickups are awesome pickups.
