Topic: meet and greet newbie

I am so excited about M&G on Saturday.  What can I expect?  Is it a quick receiving line?  Lots of people? Can I get a photo?  Will Joe sign an autograph?  What is appropriate for an autograph? I'll be happy just to meet him but would hate to wish I was better prepared afterward.

It is typically a receiving line. Joe will give each fan a minute or so of his time. Have your stuff you want him to sign ready. Have a camera ready with a shooter to capture the moment. Joe gives equal personal time to each fan so don't freeze up and enjoy the meet. He is a very nice regular guy. Enjoy the show after as well. Time of your life coming up fast friend. Welcome to the forum and join on in on the fun.

Re: meet and greet newbie

If you have any gear (guitar, guitar pedals, etc, pictures, ticket stubs, etc) you can bring it, Joe will probably ask you about the guitar and such (he is a gear head like the rest of us)
Best place to have him sign the guitar is between the tuners since  there gets the least amount of wear and tear there (see my tiny avatar)
Joe does give “life time” grantee on his signatures
He'll sign just about anything; I even got him to sign a JB baseball cap back in May2012 in Buffalo NY

He's a down to earth guitar player, believes in his fans; you'll see.

Joe is pretty prompt on everything he does.
4pm venue met up, Bob will probably verify your name on the list (some m'n'g are large and some are small depends)
at about 4:30pm Joe will start the MnG.
They ask you to move along once you've had your time with Joe to let others in the line get a chance.
usually by 5:15pm the MnG is over.

You can then grab dinner and be ready.. Joe is not late for his shows.
if it says it starts at 8pm then you can grantee that at 7:50pm the intro music starts and at 8pm Joe is on stage.
Solid performance usually for 1 straight hour, then a small pause and story from Joe, then right back at it for another hour before a 20min or so encore

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: meet and greet newbie

You're going to have a good time Maple Leaf!! It does seem that folks get a bit tongue tied when they meet Joe, so if there's any sentiments you wish to express, consider writing them in a card or note. He will read them.  It is said often, but worth repeating, he is a really down to Earth, normal fellow, so relax and "be in the moment" wink   I look forward to reviews.    Cathy

He'll sign just about anything

The only thing I've seen him refuse to sign are vintage instruments.  Last May in Pittsburgh a guy wanted his (I think) 60's acoustic signed but Joe couldn't do it and can't blame him.

Have fun!
Jim

Re: meet and greet newbie

thanks everyone.  very helpful.  I feel like it is christmas eve and can't wait to see what is under the tree.  I think I'll leave the guitars at home.  I would hate to play an autographed guitar.  Stay tuned for a review

Re: meet and greet newbie

Obviously I haven't done my research but how did you get on the list for the M&G and info to attend? I was at the show tonight at Roy Thompson and I'm still on a sonic high! I've got tickets for the show in London on May 4th. So would be good to know for future reference.

How was the M&G?

Thanks.

Re: meet and greet newbie

see the rules for the meet and greet in forums.   It was really easy and I can't say enough what a class act everyone was.  Stay tuned for my review.
