Topic: My new Guitar

This is my new guitar, a Robot Les Paul Studi 2012 Limited.

Well it was a story of struggle and paranoia to secure this guitar.

Well when we heard Macaris in London had secured one, we put the deposit on the guitar. But we waited and the guitar didn't show up in the delivery. We were told the following weekend that FedEx (delivery company) had lost it. As you can imagine this was deeply frustrating for us. I was beginning to think that it was too good to be true that I would get one of these. We gave FedEx a week to find it or we'd have to order another one from Nashville, which would take up to 2 months.

Luckily last Thursday we got the call that they had found it and yesterday we went to Macaris to pick it up. No sign of any damage and it worked perfectly. So we paid, thanked Anthony Macari for everything he had done and took it home. If anybody comes to London please take the time out to visit Macari's Guitar Shop on Cambridge Circus. Anthony Macari is the most loveliest guitar shop owner in the country.

Now about the guitar. I'd definately say it sounds different to the average LP, comparing to my 2008 Standard. The tone sounds very round and spacey, and the Chameleon Tone is a nice addition to the guitar for people like me who are limited on their amp system. What interests me the most, apart from the Robot tuning system, is the 3-way toggle, which has a dial controlling Piezo blend. This is useful if you want to take some of the raunch off your amp, or putting it on if you have too much high-end.

Overall an absolutely splendid instrument, and it will have many happy days in my possession.

I need to wait for the Interface and accessories to arrive as they were seperated from the guitar. Macari is in talk with Gibson about a replacement set.

I also ordered some more batteries and a charger just in case, as the guitar runs on Samsung Camcorder Batteries!

Re: My new Guitar

These guitars are pretty crazy.  I think they are cool, but I know a lot of guys gave them a hard time when they first came out because anything that didn't exist in the 1950's is considered bad.  I heard a lot of the first run robot guitars had servo issues with the tuners but its got a warranty, and even if something goes bad in the future I've read that Gibson is planning on making replacement parts for many years to come.  So I look forward to seeing some videos of it and I'm like everybody else happy for you!

Re: My new Guitar

Just got the RIP (Robot Interface Pack) and now I can create custom tunings.

Already created two new custom tunings. Firstly the Black Hole Sun tuning (Eb A# D# G# C F) and the infamous Robin Trower tuning which is between E and Eb tuning.
